Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom are not planning a secret wedding in Egypt, despite an untrue tabloid report. A magazine is just pretending to know the couple's marriage plans . Gossip Cop can debunk the story.

Perry and Bloom recently took a trip to the land of the pharaohs to celebrate the "Roar" singer's 35th birthday. The singer was joined by a huge group of friends for a ten-day cruise down the Nile, and both Perry and Bloom posted numerous photos at the pyramids. NW took the opportunity to make up a story about the couple deciding to get married there. According to the publication, Perry and Bloom are "so in love with Egypt they're already planning their next trip - to tie the knot!"

The magazine quotes what it calls a "pal" of Perry's as saying, "During their trip to Giza, Katy told Orly she'd love to get married there." The dubious source goes on to tell the tabloid, "He couldn't think of anything more romantic." The publication mentions that Bloom's first wedding was a low-key affair, except they call it a "shotgun scenario" as his then-bride, Miranda Kerr, was already pregnant when they married. It also mentions Perry's lavish 2010 wedding to Russell Brand in India, which is the supposed inspiration for this latest wedding plan.

The tabloid finishes off the tall tale by insisting that Egypt is the only place "that could top" Perry's first wedding. The unnamed source adds, "Katy's been looking for something just as romantic and just as visual - and Egypt ticks every box." The questionable tipster and the tabloid are both very wrong.

There is nothing at all to indicate that the couple is planning a wedding in Egypt simply because they vacationed there for her birthday. Despite what the magazine's unknown "insider" claims, Gossip Cop checked with Perry's spokesperson, who tells us on the record the story isn't true.

Something NW doesn't mention is whether Kanye West is still going to be the minister at the wedding. Earlier this year, the publication alleged Bloom and Perry had asked West to officiate the wedding. The reason the outlet avoided mentioning the rapper in this latest phony report is because that story was also completely false. Gossip Cop confirmed with Perry's rep at the time that West isn't overseeing her wedding ceremony.

The truth is NW has no insight into the couple's marriage plans or their relationship. Back in April 2018, the tabloid claimed both Perry and Taylor Swift were moving to London to live with their respective boyfriends, Bloom and Joe Alwyn. That article was a blatant attempt to connect two of the biggest pop stars in the world, who had an infamous feud that has since been repaired. Gossip Cop also debunked that report with a mountain of evidence disputing it. Bloom and Perry continue to live together in Los Angeles, a year and half later. And for what it's worth, Swift hasn't moved to London either.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
