Is Katy Perry funding Orlando Bloom's lavish lifestyle? That phony scenario can be found in one of this week's tabloids. Gossip Cop looked into the situation, and we've learned it's nonsense.

After calling her "Sugar Mama Katy" and him "Broke Orlando," Star alleges Perry is financing Bloom's love of "the finer things in life" in the face of his "dwindling bank account." The outlet does acknowledge that Bloom's latest project, Carnival Row, is receiving a second season from Amazon, but then claims the actor isn't receiving enough money for it. "He's telling his handlers to find him some more work," and "negotiate a higher salary," a so-called "friend" tells the magazine.

Fortunately, says the tabloid, Perry is more than willing to accommodate Bloom's tastes. And for Bloom, notes the publication, this is unfamiliar territory. "He thought he'd never let a woman pay the check or buy him a new wardrobe, but that's the way it is," adds the questionable source.

Gossip Cop ran the story by an individual in Bloom's camp, who laughed it off before telling us it's "obviously not true." In addition to starring on Carnival Row, Bloom was in five films in 2017 and has two more in post-production. He spent 2018 performing a play in London's West End. He's clearly not "broke" or struggling for work.

Additionally, Star mentions in its piece that Bloom used to "spoil" Perry before running into his alleged financial issues. This directly contradicts the magazine's claims in 2017 that Bloom was a chronically "cheap date" during his time as a bachelor. That story wasn't true either, but it goes to show the tabloid can't keep its phony narratives straight.

Gossip Cop has had to call out Star multiple times in the past few months over other bogus articles about the couple. In March, for instance, the outlet published a story about Bloom and Perry splitting because she's richer and more famous than him. Roughly six months later, the couple is still together, so the tabloid has come up with a different take on how Perry's wealth is supposedly impacting their romance.

In July, Gossip Cop called out the magazine for wrongly reporting Bloom and Perry were "at war" over a prenup. Once again, the outlet tried to play up the differences in finances between the two celebrities. Perry might be astronomically wealthy, but Bloom isn't exactly a starving actor. This ongoing saga about the disparity in the couple's bank accounts is ridiculous.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
