One of this week’s tabloids claims Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom asked Kanye West to officiate their wedding. The report is completely untrue. Gossip Cop can debunk it.
Last month, the newly engaged couple attended the church service that the rapper hosts at his home every Sunday. This inspired NW to come up with a story about the singer and the actor wanting West to be the minister at their wedding. A supposed source tells the magazine, “They want their wedding to make a huge splash by having a celebrity officiant. And who better than Kanye?”
The alleged insider continues, “He and Katy are pals from way back, so it makes sense. Orlando loves the idea of doing something totally out there too.” The seemingly phony tipster adds, “Kanye was thrilled to be asked. This could be the start of him officiating a lot of weddings. He’s thinking about offering his services to other couples.”
The tabloid’s article is pure fiction. Gossip Cop checked in with Perry’s rep, who tells us on the record the story is false. The singer and her fiance haven’t asked West to officiate their wedding. A source close to West confirms this as well. The bogus report was concocted simply because the couple went to one of the rapper’s Sunday services.
People magazine, a much more reliable source for celebrity news, recently reported that Bloom “doesn’t want a huge, celebrity wedding” or “anything flashy.” The idea the actor is eager to create a spectacle by having West play priest simply isn’t accurate.
It’s worth noting, NW has already proven to have little insight into the couple’s relationship. Last year, Gossip Cop busted the outlet for wrongly reporting that Perry and Bloom were settling down in London. The story was written simply because the actor is British. In reality, the two live together in Los Angeles.
Meanwhile, the unreliable magazine has made up a number of ridiculous stories about West. In January, Gossip Cop called out the publication for falsely claiming the rapper and his wife Kim Kardashian were naming their fourth child after Donald Trump. That’s not happening.
Prior to that, the tabloid wrongly alleged that West had “dumped” Kardashian and was moving to Chicago with their son Saint. Shortly after we debunked the story, the happy spouses announced they had a fourth child on the way. This latest article is more nonsense from the frequently discredited outlet.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
