Did Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom set a wedding date? A report claims the couple is getting married in September. But Gossip Cop can debunk the inaccurate story.
According to Woman's Day New Zealand, Perry and Bloom are "set to get hitched in September," specifically September 15. "They've been talking about it on and off for months, and they're finally ready to take the plunge," a so-called "friend" is quoted as saying. The stars are alleged to be "planning a traditional ceremony" to take place at Kate Hudson's Los Angeles home, with her parents, who are pastors, serving as the officiants.
"She wants to have a proper wedding this time," claims the tabloid's supposed source, referring to Perry's previous nuptials with Russell Brand taking place in India. And since Bloom had a "shotgun wedding" with ex Miranda Kerr, the purported tipster maintains, "They both want a traditional wedding, and yes, Katy has lined up a white wedding gown."
A "galaxy of stars" are said to be on the guest list, "including Rihanna, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Miley Cyrus, Sia and Robert Pattinson." The publication goes on to assert that Perry also "wouldn't mind if she's a pregnant bride," and tries to connect the alleged marriage plans to the recent meeting she and Bloom had with the Pope. Claims the alleged snitch, "She whispered to His Holiness that she would love his blessing for their future wedding."
But the only truth here is that Perry and Bloom met the Pope during a trip to the Vatican last month. Their time there, however, had nothing to do with getting a marriage blessing and actually had to do with Unite To Cure, an international conference on cancer. More significantly, it is impossible for the couple to hold a September 15 wedding.
As announced in March, Perry is slated to headline the Kaaboo Del Mar festival, which takes place September 14 -16. It makes no sense to claim the pop star is planning to get married in a star-studded wedding that very same weekend. Additionally, Bloom recently spoke with The Times of London about Perry, and indicated that they have not made any kind of plans for their future.
"Everything evolves," he said of the relationship, adding, "So we will see." Furthermore, a rep for Perry tells Gossip Cop he has "no idea" about any wedding plans. And while Bloom's spokesperson declined to comment, a member of his inner circle, who was not at liberty to speak on the record, says of the September marriage claims, "This is not true."
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
