Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom did not get married in Hawaii over the holidays. A tabloid report claiming they would is obviously wrong. Gossip Cop can debunk the story.
An article in OK! Australia last week asserted that the pop icon and the Pirates Of The Caribbean actor were set to wed in Hawaii. The misleading headline on the paper's cover reads "Surprise Hawaiian Wedding," as though it has already happened. It has not. According to a supposed source, the wedding is planned for "over the Christmas/New Year break." It didn't happen in Hawaii or anywhere else over the holidays.
The exact spot, the unreliable magazine states, would "likely" be Kauai. "They've been to the island together several times and love coming back," the source says. It appears that while the insider seems to know when the wedding will be, they don't know exactly where, except that it's "likely" in a place the couple have been before. The entire story is just ridiculous.
Still, the outlet continues to push the narrative, claiming that Perry's looking for something more "low-key" this time around after her over-the-top wedding to ex-husband Russell Brand years ago. The dubious source maintains that Bloom is on board, saying, "Orlando always shied away from doing anything flashy. He doesn't want a huge celebrity wedding."
Curiously, the questionable publication's so-called source claims that Bloom doesn't want a "huge celebrity wedding," yet the outlet mentions a guest list that includes Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, Kate Hudson, Justin Theroux, Liv Tyler and other celebrities. That certainly sounds like a big Hollywood wedding to us. The magazine boldly and unapologetically contradicts itself.
It's now several days after the holidays and the couple is not married. Earlier this month, it leaked that the wedding had been postponed because they venue the couple wanted wasn't available, and no date has been publicly announced. In a recent interview with Vogue India, Perry didn't share any new information when she was asked about it. It's also worth noting that just yesterday, Bloom posted a photo of himself standing on a snow-covered deck. The actor was enjoying some time skiing in Aspen, not marrying Perry on the beach in Hawaii.
The tabloid is clueless when it comes to the A-list couple. In August, it falsely reported that Perry and Bloom were expecting a baby. The article alleged that Perry was spotted with a "baby bump" while attending the premiere of Bloom's new show, Carnival. The tabloid pulled out all the usual tropes, writing that Perry was "glowing," "protecting her tummy all night" and "Orlando appeared to be over the moon." It was complete nonsense, as Gossip Cop confirmed at the time. The "Roar" singer was not pregnant in August, she's not pregnant now and the couple did not get married last week.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
