Katy Perry is not delaying her wedding to Orlando Bloom to have a baby. A story in a tabloid is wrong. Gossip Cop has investigated the claim and we can bust it.

Reports surfaced recently that Perry and Bloom have delayed their wedding. The reason seems to be a conflict with the venue where they want to hold the affair. Life & Style, however, invented its own story. The tabloid is claiming the singer wants to have a baby before the wedding and doesn't want to be pregnant when they hold the ceremony.

The outlet quotes an unnamed "source" as saying, "Katy wants to have a baby with Orlando, but she doesn't want to walk down the aisle pregnant. Katy has been dreaming about this day forever. She wants to look amazing as a bride and be able to drink and go wild with all their family and friends." The supposed goes on to say Perry's fiance is "totally cool" with the postponement. The anonymous source adds, "He gets where Katy's coming from and knows she loves him and is in it for the long haul." Bloom, "can't wait to become a father again," according to the dubious source.

The story isn't true. While the couple has postponed the ceremony, there is no plan for Perry to get pregnant first. E! News, a much more reliable source for celebrity reporting, recently noted that Perry and Bloom delayed their wedding until 2020 due to scheduling issues. Gossip Cop also checked with Perry's rep, who's authorized to speak on her behalf. The singer's spokespersons tells on the record that Life & Style's story is "made up."

This isn't the first time the outlet has been busted making up stories about the couple. In March, the publication claimed Bloom and Perry were having their wedding at Disney World. The phony report had all kinds of bizarre details, like the cost of the wedding, the guest list, what Perry's dress would look like, and how Bloom's son would be involved. Gossip Cop checked with Perry's rep who told us nothing in the story was factual. Time has proven as much.

Just one month later, in April, Gossip Cop busted the same tabloid when it alleged Perry was pregnant with Bloom's child. It should be noted that no mention of this previous claim is made in this latest article. Instead, the tabloid pulls out a bit from the previous story - that Perry was going to wait until giving birth to get married - and turned it into a whole new, bogus article. The singer wasn't pregnant in April, and she's not postponing her wedding to get pregnant now.

Editors Note: On March 5th 2020, Perry announced via social media she was pregnant and due over the summer. Rumors of a June wedding in Japan are still unsubstantiated.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
