Katy Perry defends her reported $25 million “American Idol” salary in a radio interview set to air on Wednesday. Check out the video below.

Perry singed on last week as the first judge of the “American Idol” reboot, which will air on ABC in 2018. It was subsequently reported that the pop star would be paid a whopping $25 million for the season, more than what Ryan Seacrest and Jennifer Lopez previously earned. Now in a KTU interview clip released Tuesday, Perry addresses the large sum.

Carolina Bermudez brought up the subject by saying, “I’m sure that you hear in the news people talking about you and the whole ‘American Idol’ situation that’s come out. Does that ever irk you that people are talking about how much money you make or how much they paid you to be on that show, or are you like ‘Yup, I deserve every last penny’?”

Perry responded, “You know, I think there’s a couple ways to go about answering that question. One is, first and foremost, the news, the media. I kinda stopped doing a whole lot of print media and I only do radio and TV because context is wild these days. Nobody cares about intention. It’s all clickbait. It’s all a bunch of crap on the internet. I think ‘www’ stands for wild, wild, west.

“But secondarily, I’m really proud that, as a woman, I got paid,” Perry continued. “And you know why? I got paid like more than pretty much any guy that’s been on that show. And, by the way, I love men. So I’m a paid woman and I’m ready for a beautiful man.” Amusingly, Cubby then then asked to “borrow 20 bucks.”

The singer went on to discuss the “constructive criticism” she plans to dish on the reality competition. “I’m polite but firm. I’m super realistic,” Perry said, going on to reveal she was in negotiations to join past seasons of the show but “it’s never been right” until now. Watch the video below.
