Katie Holmes is not having a breakdown over Tom Cruise supposedly coming back into their daughter Suri's life, despite a false tabloid report. The actor isn't reuniting with his estranged daughter, so the actress isn't upset about a nonexistent scenario. Gossip Cop can correct the story.
"Katie Melts Down As Tom Gets Suri Back!" reads a headline in the latest issue of NW. The accompanying article says the actress is going through an "emotional crisis" because Cruise recently sent Suri an email asking to reunite after six years of being estranged. This resulted in a "top-secret meeting in New York city," according to the outlet.
"She's living an absolute nightmare," an alleged source tells the magazine. "Having Tom waltz his way back into Suri's life after all these years is just so sickening and upsetting." The supposed insider adds, "She's broken down in tears numerous times. This negativity and stress is the last thing she wants to be dealing with. It's brought back a lot of painful memories of the dark days with Tom."
Cruise hasn't seen his 13-year-old daughter in around six years, and it's believed he cut off contact when Holmes removed the little girl from Scientology following their 2012 divorce. According to the magazine, however, Suri was "overjoyed" to hear from her dad and is looking forward to having him back in her life. "Along with the psychological impact this will have on Suri, Katie's dreading the prospect of seeing Tom on a potentially regular basis," says the anonymous tipster. "Katie's a real mama bear when it comes to Suri and she's not on board with this reunion at all."
Nothing about the tabloid's article is a reality. In fact, NW acknowledges that it's basing most of its report on last week's Star cover story about Cruise reuniting with Suri after six years of being apart. However, NW decided to ignore a few key details from that article. Most significantly, the American outlet said Holmes was helping to set up a meeting between Cruise and her daughter in New York City. This latest story withholds that aspect of the phony report and instead throws in an angle about the actress having a "breakdown" over the (nonexistent) reunion.
When this premise first emerged last week, Gossip Cop reached out to Holmes' spokesperson, who told us on the record it was untrue. It remains untrue, despite NW offering its own take on the narrative. Unfortunately, this wouldn't be the first time the tabloid has peddled this scenario. In August 2018, we busted the magazine for falsely claiming Cruise was battling Holmes for equal custody of their daughter. In reality, Holmes has full custody of Suri, and Cruise hasn't made any attempts to come back into her life.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
