What happened to the secret project Katie Holmes and Nicole Kidman were supposedly working on together? Exactly one year ago today, Gossip Cop busted a tabloid for falsely claiming the two actresses were collaborating. That was never the case.
On November 6, 2018, Gossip Cop called out Grazia for making up a story about Holmes and Kidman working together on a “Hollywood production.” The outlet didn’t bother to provide any details about the supposed project. It wasn’t even mentioned if the so-called “production” would be a movie or a TV series.
Still, an alleged insider said at the time that Holmes and Kidman had been exchanging messages “via their agents,” but were keeping the collaboration a secret from their mutual ex-husband, Tom Cruise. In reality, the pair’s shared history with Cruise was the only reason the bogus article was concocted.
The tabloid’s premise was based on the word of an anonymous and seemingly nonexistent “source,” but Gossip Cop reached out to Holmes’ spokesperson, who told us on the record last year that it was all “untrue.” The actress’s rep, who’s qualified to speak on her behalf, confirmed in November 2018 that she had no plans to collaborate with Kidman. 365 days later, the two actresses still haven’t worked together and they don’t have any sort of project in development.
In the year since we corrected the magazine’s report, Holmes shot the upcoming horror movie Brahms: The Boy II, the musical drama Coda and the film adaption of the best-selling book The Secret, all of which are due for release next year. Meanwhile, Kidman recently wrapped the upcoming HBO series The Undoing, and she’s currently attached to a number of other movies and TV shows. The two actresses don’t have any joint projects in the works.
Unfortunately, there have been many additional articles over the past year involving both of Cruise’s ex-wives. In September, Gossip Cop busted Woman’s Day for falsely claiming Holmes was begging Kidman to help save her daughter Suri from Scientology. In August, New Idea made up a story about Holmes and Kidman secretly meeting at a Broadway show to discuss their mutual ex-husband. And in July, Gossip Cop called out Star for coming up with a ridiculous report about both Holmes and Kidman being pregnant at the same time. That article even claimed to have Cruise’s reaction to the (nonexistent) news.
Holmes and Kidman don’t appear to know each other at all, despite the gossip media’s insistence on printing fiction involving both of them. The only reason such articles are written is because both were once married to one of the biggest movie stars in the world.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
