Katie Holmes and Liam Hemsworth don't have a romance in the works, despite a ridiculous tabloid report. The bogus story seems to have been concocted simply because both stars are newly single. Gossip Cop can debunk it.
Holmes and Hemsworth recently ended high-profile relationships with Jamie Foxx and Miley Cyrus, respectively, which was all New Idea needed to link the two. The actress will be traveling to Australia in November to serve as the 2019 Ambassador for McHappy Day, an annual fundraiser organized by McDonald's. According to the magazine, Elsa Pataky plans on setting up Holmes with her newly separated brother-in-law while she's there.
The publication says Holmes and Pataky became friends after hitting it off at a "star-studded Hollywood event" a couple of years ago. The unreliable outlet, however, doesn't bother to mention the name of the event. There's also zero indication of the two ever socializing together. Still, an alleged insider is quoted as saying, "Katie still keeps in touch and Elsa knows she's had a hard time in her love life as of late."
The supposed tipster goes on to say that Pataky is eager to "play cupid" for Holmes when she gets to Australia, adding, "Elsa think the pair will hit it off and Liam is just Katie's type." The tabloid further contends that Holmes and Hemsworth are perfect for each other because both support philanthropic endeavors. Of course, hundreds of celebrities do charity work so this hardly makes them soulmates.
From there, the publication says the Hunger Games star "has previously hinted that he would be open to dating an older woman." This is based on nothing but a quote the actor gave in a 2012 interview with Glamour, telling the magazine, "As the younger brother, I think you always have crushes on your older brother's girlfriends." This was in response to being asked if he's ever had a crush on the same girl as his older brother Chris.
Despite the tabloid having very flimsy evidence to back up its story, Gossip Cop still checked in with a source close to the situation, who laughed off the premise. We're assured that Pataky isn't playing matchmaker for Holmes and Hemsworth. The outlet's article is both untrue and totally random.
It should be noted, Gossip Cop busted New Idea in May for wrongly reporting Holmes was pregnant with Foxx's baby. The tabloid has never acknowledged why that phony narrative didn't pan out. Just a few weeks ago, the publication made up a story about Holmes secretly meeting Nicole Kidman at a Broadway show to have a discussion about Tom Cruise. That narrative emerged after both actresses saw Moulin Rouge! on Broadway. The magazine, however, didn't bother to mention that they attended the show a week apart. This latest article involving Hemsworth is more nonsense.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
