One of this week's tabloids claims the reason Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx took a vacation to Miami last month was to save their relationship. The premise is completely untrue. Gossip Cop can debunk it.
Shortly before New Year's, the couple was spotted jet skiing and getting cozy on a yacht during a romantic getaway to Miami. According to Life & Style, the trip came on the heels of the actor calling off their romance, but the actress convinced her boyfriend to give their relationship another shot. An alleged insider tells the magazine, "The weekend together in Miami was Katie's idea. She went above and beyond to show Jamie that she's still in love with him... It was really a make-or-break vacation, and it worked."
The supposed source further contends that Foxx "was impressed by Katie's initiative and it definitely put the spark back in their relationship." The questionable tipster adds, "They had a deep conversation about their future together. She admitted to stringing Jamie along for too long. But this is a new beginning for them."
Here's what's really happening. Last month, Life & Style published a phony cover story claiming Foxx had "dumped" Holmes over the phone ahead of her 40th birthday on December 18. The article was provably untrue. In reality, Holmes and Foxx celebrated her birthday at a restaurant in New York City, where they were joined by the actress's mother, Kathleen. Meanwhile, a source close to Holmes told Gossip Cop last month that the breakup rumors were untrue.
The couple jetted off to Miami following the birthday celebration, making it clear they're still very much together. Instead of acknowledging it got the story wrong, the tabloid is trying to save face by insisting that Foxx did in fact dump Holmes, but she convinced him to take her back with a trip to Miami. Of course, this still doesn't explain why the actor celebrated Holmes' birthday with her if he had supposedly ended their romance immediately before it. Naturally, the magazine never mentions the couple's birthday dinner in New York.
Meanwhile, People magazine recently reported that Holmes and Foxx's relationship seems to be getting more serious. Although neither star has publicly discussed their romance, they've been spotted on several dates and excursions over the past few months. The reputable publication noted, "They are clearly not as concerned about keeping their relationship private." Regardless, Holmes didn't beg the actor to take a trip to Miami to work through a nonexistent breakup.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
