A tabloid claims Katie Holmes wants Jamie Foxx to become a “father figure” to her daughter Suri since Tom Cruise is no longer in the young girl’s life. The story is completely made-up. Gossip Cop can debunk it.
Cruise has been estranged from his 12-year-old daughter for several years, and according to Grazia, Holmes is looking for a replacement in Foxx. An alleged insider tells the magazine the actress has been “leaning on Jamie” for advice on how to raise Suri, adding, “Katie needs Jamie in her life more than ever.”
Foxx has never actually been photographed with Holmes’ daughter, but the “insider” attempts to explain this by insisting the actor is “reluctant to be pictured with Suri as he doesn’t want to upset things with Tom.” The questionable tipster further alleges that Holmes is less worried about upsetting Cruise, so she’s “encouraging Jamie to step up” and become a “parental figure” to the young girl.
The magazine’s story isn’t remotely accurate. For starters, Holmes and Foxx live on different coasts and have their own separate lives. Prior to last week, the couple hadn’t been spotted together in around three months. People magazine recently noted that Holmes and Foxx “see each other as frequently as they can,” but they’re both “dedicated to their careers” and “give each other space.”
Simply put, the couple has a unique arrangement that doesn’t include Foxx raising the actress’s daughter. Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the situation, who assures us the tabloid’s article is made-up. Holmes hasn’t asked the actor to act as Suri’s “father figure,” and it doesn’t seem he’s spent too much time with the young girl.
Unfortunately, variations of this bogus narrative have emerged in the past. Last year, Gossip Cop called out HollywoodLife for falsely claiming Foxx was acting as a “father figure” to Suri. The premise wasn’t true then and it’s no more accurate now. Back in 2017, the National Enquirer went so far as to claim Foxx was “adopting” Holmes’ daughter. That clearly hasn’t happened.
Gossip Cop has also debunked opposing stories about Suri supposedly disliking the actor. Last year, we called out a magazine for wrongly reporting that Suri was begging her mom to “dump” Foxx. Following that, Gossip Cop shot down a bogus report about Suri fighting with Holmes over Foxx supposedly moving in with them. In reality, Holmes’ relationship with the actor is kept separate from her daughter, and the gossip media has zero insight into their dynamic.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
