Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx were secretly married now they’re headed for a divorce battle? That’s the ridiculous story from one of this week’s tabloids. Gossip Cop can confirm that the rumor is totally untrue.

The marriage scenario can be found in the latest issue of Woman’s Day, which begins its piece by claiming Foxx has been getting over his split from Holmes by “hitting all the Hollywood hotspots he used to frequent” and “chatting up girls half his age.” According to the magazine, one party in particular saw Foxx sharing more than just his usual pick-up lines.

A so-called “partygoer” claims to have overheard Foxx telling people that Holmes dumped him over her jealousy of his relationship with his ex Kristin Grannis, with whom he co-parents their 10-year-old daughter. This alleged partier also alleges that Foxx went around telling people he and Holmes were married.

“While he didn’t go into too much detail on the marriage,” says the supposed source, “he called her his ‘wife’ on more than one occasion and hinted that they were about to embark on a divorce battle.” The tabloid further maintains that Foxx and Holmes never got a prenup, which is why a battle is expected. During this same party, Foxx supposedly even referred to Holmes’ daughter, Suri, as his “stepdaughter.”

Despite what the tabloid’s anonymous “partygoer” says, Gossip Cop reached out to Holmes’ rep, who tells us the premise is “100 percent untrue.” Holmes and Foxx were never secretly married. The two had a casual romance that ended in a split, not a marriage that ended in a divorce. Plus, the tabloid keeps its article incredibly vague, only mentioning “hotspots” and “parties,” but never specifying exactly when and where Foxx started revealing details of his “marriage.”

Additionally, if Holmes and Foxx had actually tied the knot, there would be legal paperwork filed in both of their names. The tabloid’s claims about a divorce and prenup only make sense if the two were legally married with publicly available documentation. Gossip Cop investigated and found no such documentation. The exes don’t have a marriage certificate, and there’s no divorce battle on the horizon.

The whole article also reeks of repeated claims. Gossip Cop busted Woman’s Day in July when it tried to push a similar story about Holmes’ “jealousy” of Grannis. The tabloid also published a phony narrative about Foxx’s “flirtatious” nature angering Holmes just after their breakup. The publication doesn’t know the first thing about what went on during the couple’s romance, or what’s been happening in the wake of their split.
