Katie Holmes is not “terrified of getting hurt” by Jamie Foxx, despite a report from exactly one year ago today. A full 12 months ago, Gossip Cop debunked that claim in a magazine, which also falsely alleged she was concerned about “cheating rumors” surrounding Foxx. It was wrong then, and it’s even clearer now how inaccurate that article was.

On February 10, 2018, Grazia ran a cover story on how Holmes was nervous about Foxx and his “reputation” for having fun with other women. The British tabloid quoted an unnamed source as maintaining the actress would be “devastated” and “publicly humiliated” if her relationship with Foxx ended because of the rumors about him cheating. The same unidentifiable tipster added that Holmes was “terrified of getting hurt.”

To back up its premise about her being “concerned” about the Oscar-winner “partying” with other women, it cited a report about Foxx having “betrayed” Holmes with a “Russian mistress.” However, that claim, which was in the National Enquirer, was untrue. In fact, as opposed to how those magazines hide behind anonymous sources, Holmes’ rep went on the record with Gossip Cop to note the entire story was “fabricated.”

One year later, it should be obvious the tabloid’s article about Holmes being “terrified of getting hurt” by Foxx was 100 percent wrong. Over the past 365 days, the two have become even more public with their relationship. Not only were they openly photographed kissing on a beach in Malibu in August, but after celebrating her birthday together in New York, in late December Holmes and Foxx vacationed together on a yacht in Miami.

Grazia has not been an entirely reliable source of information about Holmes. Prior to that piece, Gossip Cop busted it over the years for a variety of untrue dating stories about her, including falsely linking the actress romantically to Jake Gyllenhaal, Alexander Skarsgard and George Clooney, among others. Unfortunately, since the inaccurate report about Holmes being worried about cheating claims involving Foxx, the publication hasn’t become any more dependable with its articles about her.

Last November, for example, Gossip Cop busted the very same outlet after it published a story about how Holmes was planning to work with another Tom Cruise ex-wife, Nicole Kidman, on a vaguely referenced “Hollywood production.” Like the piece with Foxx, the article about Holmes and Kidman was also predicated on an untraceable source. Conversely, Holmes’s rep, once again speaking on her behalf, assured Gossip Cop the claim about her wanting to do a project with Kidman was “untrue.”

As we have noted in the past, occasionally we look back at a story from a year ago to show visitors which outlets are and aren’t always trustworthy, as well as to point out red flags they should be looking for in an article. Often one sign is when a magazine or website relies only on a nameless “source.” To help our readers feel comfortable with our reporting, Gossip Cop lists where our information has come from below each post. We would like to encourage other print and online publications to similarly take ownership and accountability for their work as well.
