Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx are not buying a luxury New York City apartment together, despite a new report that’s based on an old and disproven claim. Gossip Cop can once again bust this bogus tale. Holmes’ camp says all talk of Foxx and the actress plunking down $56 million for a penthouse on Manhattan’s Upper East Side is not true.

It appears Star has taken a discredited story from an Australian tabloid and added its own fake quotations to assert Holmes and Foxx are now “shacking up” in a multimillion-dollar apartment they’re purchasing together. A so-called “insider” contends, “They wanted something large and sophisticated,” and Holmes is overjoyed because Foxx has agreed to leave L.A. to live with her in New York. The magazine’s seemingly made-up source alleges Holmes is renovating one of the rooms in the apartment for what “sounds like a baby’s nursery” because she’s “yearning for a baby.”

It’s interesting the tabloid doesn’t state with certainty now that the actress is pregnant, because it was only a month ago the magazine ran a cover story maintaining Holmes was having a “miracle baby” with Foxx. Of course, Gossip Cop busted that total lie, which is why the outlet seems to have abandoned its phony narrative. More significantly for this latest article, the publication appears to be cribbing its misinformation from the Australian rag, Woman’s Day, which inaccurately reported earlier this month that Holmes and Foxx were buying a $56 million penthouse in New York.

It was untrue when the tabloid from Down Under first reported this, and it’s still false. A rep for Holmes categorically denies the magazine’s story. It also bears mentioning that none of the city’s papers, especially the New York Post which often breaks celebrity real estate stories, have written anything about the two high-profile stars making such a noteworthy purchase. In fact, any sale of $56 million, even if the buyers were not celebrities, would assuredly garner tremendous press attention in New York.

Remember this is coming from the same tabloid Gossip Cop busted a few months ago when it published millions of copies that wrongly contended Holmes dumped Foxx to date Joshua Jackson, her former “Dawson’s Creek” co-star. Actually, it’s rather surprising the magazine would continue printing lies about the actress after Star settled a lawsuit Holmes filed against it in 2011 for untruthfully asserting she was addicted to drugs.

To recap: The tabloid essentially rewrote an inaccurate story from an Australian magazine and appears to have peppered it with fake quotations about Foxx and Holmes buying a $56 million penthouse in New York. It also hints that Holmes wants more kids, just one month after reporting she was already pregnant. Additionally, while the publication relies on an unnamed and untraceable “source,” Holmes’ rep has gone on the record to shoot down the claim about the actress and Foxx dropping a fortune together on a luxury Manhattan apartment. Lastly, the outlet has been repeatedly wrong about Holmes, which is why Gossip Cop is giving its new article a zero out of 10 on our fact-or-fiction meter.
