The actress spoke to Robin Roberts on the morning show about her return to the small screen as Jackie Kennedy. When asked if she drew inspiration from the former First Lady, Holmes said, “I draw so much inspiration from her whole life. How she influenced style, how she influenced bringing so much to the White House when she was there, so many artists were supported by her.” Holmes continued, “With everything she went through, she was so focused on keeping her children safe, protected, loved. She had such an elegance.”

Holmes went on to talk about her directorial efforts, having directed one of the episodes for “The Kennedys: After Camelot.” “I really enjoy it,” the star noted. “Being a part of directing this mini-series was really exciting, it was very different from the movie that I directed. I felt very supported by John Cassar, the other director on this. He was a great partner and mentor. I really enjoy working with actors and getting different shades of a performance out of people.”

Roberts and Holmes also discussed if the Kennedys would use social media in today’s society. “I think they would, Joe Kennedy was great at getting Jack into the office. They were very good at media at that time,” the actress said. “He was the first president to let the cameras into the White House, so I’m sure they would have adjusted with social media, as we’ve all been trying to do.” Watch the full “GMA” interview below!
