Katie Holmes and her 12-year-old daughter Suri Cruise are frequently targeted by the tabloids. Gossip Cop has debunked many false stories about the pair. Here are five recent wrong rumors.
Earlier this week, Gossip Cop busted NW for wrongly reporting that Holmes and her daughter were starring on a "Dawson's Creek" reboot in which Suri would play the daughter of the actress's character from the original show. Not only did a rep for Holmes call the report flat-out "nuts," but the actress herself said last year she doesn't think a reboot of the '90s teen drama would work. "What I love about this show is that it existed at a time pre-social media, pre-internet, and it was nostalgic when we were shooting it," Holmes told "Entertainment Weekly" last year, adding, "So I really like it where it is, to be honest." There's no "Dawson's Creek" reboot currently in the works, and Suri most assuredly isn't involved in any capacity.
Last month, Gossip Cop called out Woman's Day New Zealand for claiming Suri was "heartbroken" over her mom's supposed split from Jamie Foxx. The main problems with the story? The actress and the actor never broke up. Just days before the bogus report was published, Holmes and Foxx enjoyed a romantic getaway to Miami. Shortly before that, People magazine noted that Holmes and Foxx's "relationship is evolving" to the point where they're more comfortable stepping out in public together. The 12-year-old girl wasn't upset about a nonexistent split.
Gossip Cop corrected Star in November after the magazine alleged Tom Cruise was trying to reunite with Suri over the holidays, leaving Holmes all alone on Christmas. The movie star has been estranged from his daughter for several years, but according to the tabloid, he was pushing for a reunion to repair his image. The outlet further maintained that Holmes was devastated over being "ripped away from her daughter" during the holiday season. A rep for the actress told us the report was untrue as soon as it emerged. The following month, Holmes took to Instagram to give a glimpse of her Christmas and New Year's celebrations, and Suri was very much involved in the holiday festivities.
Last December, Gossip Cop busted OK! for alleging Holmes was having a "breakdown" because Suri wanted to reunite with her dad. The tabloid contented that the actress tried to explain to her daughter that Cruise's involvement in Scientology forbids him from seeing them, but Suri was "hearing none of it" and "demanding to live with Tom." The situation had supposedly gotten so stressful it was taking a toll on Holmes' physical appearance. The actress's spokesperson, however, dismissed the report as nonsense. Just days before the story was published, Holmes looked happy and healthy on the red carpet at the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball concert in New York City, where she was accompanied by Suri.
And finally, Gossip Cop called out NW last year for making up a story about Holmes encouraging her daughter to audition for acting roles. The magazine said the young girl was hoping to land a leading role in a movie or TV show, and the pre-teen's mom fully supported her supposed show business ambitions. In the time since we debunked the phony story, Suri has continued attending school in New York City, and never attempted to embark on a Hollywood career. In fact, Holmes was spotted shopping for school supplies for Suri just last month.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
