One of this week's tabloids claims Katie Holmes and her 12-year-old daughter Suri Cruise are fighting over Jamie Foxx moving in with them. Every aspect of the story is untrue. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk it.
According to NW, Holmes and Foxx purchased a five-bedroom penthouse in New York City, but the actress's daughter isn't happy about the idea of them all living under the same roof. An alleged insider tells the magazine, "When Katie brought it up, she never imagined Suri would react that way. Suri never seemed to mind having Jamie around before. But she's been giving her mom the cold shoulder ever since."
The outlet's questionable source adds, "Suri doesn't like this idea of Jamie invading her home space and becoming a sort of stepdad." Part of the issue, according to the supposed tipster, is that Suri wants to spend more time with her estranged dad Tom Cruise, who she hasn't seen in several years. "She misses him, especially now that she's about to become a teenager. Having Tom back in the picture could only cause drama with Katie," adds the suspicious insider.
The tabloid's article, however, is based on a false premise. Gossip Cop already busted both Woman's Day and Star earlier this month after the magazines wrongly reported that Holmes and Foxx had bought a New York City apartment together. A spokesperson qualified to speak on the actress's behalf assured us the two hadn't purchased a property and had no plans to move in together.
Still, Gossip Cop ran this latest story by Holmes' rep, who confirms there's no truth to it. The actress isn't fighting with her daughter over nonexistent plans to live with Foxx. It's worth noting, NW's article says the "five-bedroom penthouse" being purchased by the couple costs $78 million, but previous versions of the story listed the price as $56 million. It's unclear why their (nonexistent) apartment went up $22 million in value since a few weeks ago.
It's also worth noting, NW has trouble keeping track of its phony narratives. In May, Gossip Cop busted the tabloid for falsely claiming that Joshua Jackson was spending time with Holmes and her daughter because the actress's romance with Foxx had ended. This latest article doesn't acknowledge that storyline. If the outlet were to be believed, Holmes and Foxx split earlier this year, then she started dating her former "Dawson's Creek" co-star, and now she's back with Foxx and they're moving in together. This entire saga is fictional.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
