Pregnant Kate Middleton is not having twins, despite a new tabloid cover story. Kensington Palace confirms to Gossip Cop the report is untrue. The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting just one baby.
Life & Style wrongly declares on its cover, "Kate's Big News: She's Having Twins!" The front of the new edition further asserts Middleton and Prince William will "soon be a family of six," and purports to know the names and gender of the "identical" twins. Inside the issue, a headline exclaims, "Pregnant Kate's Big Announcement: It's Twins!" Of course, Middleton hasn't made any such announcement and she's not going to. She has only one baby on board.
Still, the tabloid contends Middleton is having two girls, and a so-called "royals insider" is quoted as saying, "Kate and William were both shocked when they found out." The purported "insider" claims she "excitedly called" her mom and sister to "tell them the news," while a supposed "palace source" asserts the expectant princess is already insisting the babies "be seen as individuals and allowed to develop their own personalities." The alleged snitch adds, "Kate and William haven't decided on names yet, [but] they don't plan to coordinate them to start with the same letter or rhyme." The list of options is said to include "Victoria, Alice, Olivia, Alexandra and Elizabeth."
The rest of the cover story is filled out with alleged plans for two separate nurseries, talk of sibling bonding with Prince George and Princess Charlotte, and the contention that Prince William "fears Kate will be taking on too much once the twins are born." The article ends with the alleged "palace source" maintaining, "The queen is thrilled to hear that her grandson and Kate are expecting twins." Yet Kensington Palace tells Gossip Cop that's actually not the case.
Pointing to the formal Twitter statement released just last week, the palace stresses that it was announced Middleton and Prince William are expecting "a baby" in April, not identical twins or two babies. Unsurprisingly, this official comment is not featured anywhere in the tabloid's cover story. After all, Life & Style often prefers fiction over fact.
More than a year ago, Gossip Cop busted the magazine for falsely claiming in a cover story that Middleton was pregnant with twins. We rightly reported at the time that she wasn't even expecting one baby then, let alone two. Now that the Duchess is indeed expanding her family, the outlet has brought back its twins narrative to make for an attention-grabbing cover on newsstands. But when Middleton delivers only one child in April, the publication will again be exposed as source of misinformation, not real news.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
