Kate Middleton did NOT "shade" Meghan Markle, despite an utterly ridiculous claim. Gossip Cop can bust the absurd allegation.
MediaTakeOut blares in a headline on Tuesday, "ROYAL DRAMA!!! Meghan Markle's FRIEND... Is Claiming That PRINCESS KATE MIDDLETON... Is Throwing Major SHADE AT HER!!!" The accompanying story says, "The internet gossip Janet Charleston is CLOSE friends with actress Megan Markle [and] just posted the below Blind Item. It's pretty clear that it's about Prince William's wife Kate Middletona and Harry's GF Meghan Markle."
At this point, Gossip Cop must note the webloid misspelled two key names. It's Charlton, not "Charleston." And it's Middleton, not "Middletona." In any case, MTO goes on to quote the "blind item," which says, "Let's say you're dating a guy and you're super into each other, and you've been staying with him, and he's really serious about you, the most serious he's been about anyone."
The questionable tale goes on, "He lives in the same complex with someone he's very close to. And the person he's close to has a partner too. You and she don't know each other well. But since you've been staying there, you run into each other one day. And you tell her you're going shopping and where."
"She says she's going shopping too and leaves in the car. You head out on foot. Turns out, she went shopping exactly where you went shopping. And she knew that's where you were going. But she didn't offer you a ride. Is that weird? Maybe it's not that weird. But considering who they are, it IS super gossipy," concludes the riddle.
There is NOTHING "pretty clear" in there that should lead MediaFakeOut to definitively conclude the gossip item is about Markle and Middleton. Furthermore, while the site claims Chartlon is "close friends" with Markle, Gossip Cop can't find any evidence to back that up, and a source actually tells us the actress has "never met" the gossiper and "has no idea who she is." But here's something we do know: Charlton is a former Star writer, who also contributed to the National Enquirer.
That's the level of credibility we're dealing with here. And there is absolutely no actual proof of Middleton "throwing shade" at Markle. But MTO sensationally threw it out there anyway. On some level, Gossip Cop isn't surprised. After all, the bad blog is the same outlet that wrongly said Markle would become the "first black queen" of England if she marries Prince Harry.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
