Kate Middleton is not "irritated" with Meghan Markle's so-called "copycat style," despite a made-up report which wrongly suggests the actress is purposely dressing "just like the Duchess of Cambridge." Gossip Cop can correct this bogus claim. We're told it's "rubbish."
According to the often disproven Celeb Dirty Laundry, which is regularly caught peddling fake news stories about the royal family, Markle is "following in Kate's fashionable footsteps." Without a single source to support its premise, the website goes on to allege that the "Suits" actress was "spotted wearing the same black lace dress that Kate Middleton wore only a few short months ago," and "fans can't help but wonder why Meghan would choose to wear something that is already sitting in Kate's closet." The outlet further purports, "For Kate, she's more than just a little irritated with Meghan. The last thing the Duchess of Cambridge wants to do is compete with Prince Harry's girlfriend for attention."
But the entire report is inaccurate. Firstly, Middleton stepped out on Tuesday for a charity gala at Kensington Palace, sporting a black lace gown by Diane von Furstenberg. The Duchess of Cambridge, who is known to recycle dresses, wore the very same outfit in 2014 at the Royal Variety Performance in London. Secondly, and contrary to CDL's tale which insists that the actress stole Middleton's look, Markle wore the same dress by the popular designer at a red carpet event in 2012, two years before the royal.
So while it's true Middleton and Markle share a similar sense of style, the actress is certainly not copying the Duchess of Cambridge. In fact, Markle donned the lace dress first. But regardless of the article's slew of inaccuracies, Gossip Cop still investigated, and a royal source tells us the report is "rubbish."
Of course, this isn't the first time Gossip Cop has debunked the bad blog for pitting the two women against each other. For example, we corrected the website in October when it falsely alleged that Middleton was frustrated by Markle "stealing the spotlight." Much like that baseless report, this latest tale is similarly phony.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
