Was Queen Elizabeth actually shocked by the semi-revealing V-neck gown that Kate Middleton wore to a state banquet earlier this month? That’s the claim in one of this week’s new tabloids, but Gossip Cop has the truth.

The Duchess of Cambridge showed off a bit more skin than usual when the royal family hosted an event for Spain’s King Felipe and Queen Letizia at Buckingham Palace on July 12. Middleton donned a custom Marchesa dress featuring a low-cut neckline that revealed a bit of cleavage, and now OK! is claiming the Duchess’s fashion choice “raised eyebrows” at the event, especially from the Queen.

“Prince William loved the gown and told her to ignore anyone who didn’t – including his grandmother, if it came to that,” a supposed “palace insider” tells the magazine. The magazine’s dubious source goes on to purport that the Queen didn’t believe the state banquet was the right occasion to wear such a bold gown, but “Kate is on a mission to set the fashion agenda again, the way she did when she was first engaged and anything she wore sold out in minutes.” The “insider” adds, “She knew she was pushing the boundaries and got the reaction she wanted.”

But Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the situation, who exclusively assures us the Queen wasn’t taken aback by Middleton’s attire, and the tabloid’s claim otherwise is simply “false.” Of course, OK! has repeatedly published bogus stories about the Duchess, so this latest fabrication comes as no surprise. Gossip Cop recently busted the magazine’s phony cover story claiming Middleton was pregnant with her third baby. We also previously debunked the outlet’s bogus report about Middleton and Prince William being named king and queen in a royal coronation. This latest article is equally untrue.
