Kate Middleton did not have a “flirt fest” with famed British sailor Ben Ainslie right in front of Prince William at the America’s Cup on July 24 in Portsmouth, England, despite a new tabloid report. Gossip Cop can correct this. We’re told it’s “rubbish.”

According to the repeatedly discredited Star, after Ainslie’s boat beat the USA’s yacht for the America’s Cup, even Prince William being on hand “didn’t stop Kate from flirting merrily with the sexy skipper.” A so-called source tells the tabloid, “Kate is like a giddy schoolgirl around Ben… She totally adores him.” The magazine alleges following Ainslie’s win, Middleton “toyed with her hair and batted her eyelashes, while her husband stood by, looking a bit like a third wheel.”

“Kate was all aglow and couldn’t wipe the smile off her face,” says the publication’s supposed source. The tabloid then claims her “crush has been building for a while now,” with “sparks” first flying at the 2012 summer Olympics in London, where Ainslie won a gold medal, and then again in May when Middleton went on a training ride on his new Catamaran. The magazine’s seemingly made-up “insider” adds, “[Ainslie] really floats her boat.”

Not only are the publication’s puns bad, but it’s reporting is also abysmal. There was no “flirt fest,” nor does Middleton act like a “giddy schoolgirl” around Ainslie by playing with her hair and batting her eyelashes. It’s all fabricated. While Middleton likes sailing, she loves her husband and there are no “sparks” between her and Ainslie. A source at the America’s Cup assures Gossip Cop the tabloid’s tale is “rubbish.”

It seems this latest wrong report grew out of previous inaccurate claims about Middleton flirting with Ainslie during the training session in May. As Gossip Cop reported, a royal insider told us at the time that any talk of Middleton having a crush on the Olympic sailor was “nonsense.” We’re not entirely surprised by the falsity of the publication’s new article. More than 11 months ago, Gossip Cop busted the magazine when it misguidedly claimed in a cover story that Middleton was pregnant with baby number three. Unfortunately, the outlet’s fact-checking hasn’t gotten much better.
