Kate Hudson is not married or engaged, despite an unsubstantiated report. The actress is happily dating longtime friend Danny Fujikawa, but they aren’t planning to wed just yet. Gossip Cop can debunk this false tabloid tale.

“She’s Engaged! Kate Marries Her Mate,” declares a headline in the new issue of New Zealand’s Woman’s Day. According to the gossip magazine, Hudson “accepted a proposal” from Fujikawa and is now sporting “new bling.” The outlet contends, “The pair had been hiking when Danny… got down on one knee to ask for her hand.” The publication even asserts that the actress’ son Bingham is “taking a new dad in his stride.”

The tabloid doesn’t have any additional details about the purported engagement and impending marriage, so it merely repeats comments Hudson made about Fujikawa on “The Talk” last month. And the rest of the short story is filled out with well-known information about the star’s romantic history, namely her failed marriage to Chris Robinson and her canceled engagement with Matt Bellamy. “But this time, it looks like it’s for keeps,” concludes the magazine.

Actually, there’s no telling what’s “for keeps.” There’s no way to predict whether any couple, especially in Hollywood, will go the distance. And Hudson already rebutted engagement rumors last week, telling Women’s Wear Daily, “If there’s ever anything to talk about, I’m an honest person, I’ll talk about it. I’ll be happy to talk about it, but all that’s just nonsense.”

It’s possible Woman’s Day went with this mid-hike proposal storyline because in December, Hudson shared on Instagram that their first date took place on a hike a year ago. To celebrate that anniversary, they returned to the same path and were photographed kissing. “#LoveThisMan #WhatAYear,” she wrote in the caption. But no proposal took place during that outing.

This is now the second time in recent months that the actress herself has been forced to dispel misinformation about her love life. In November, Hudson shot down rumors about dating Brad Pitt, confirming Gossip Cop’s reporting. In 2016 and 2017, Star wrongly linked the two repeatedly, but we consistently and rightly busted such romance claims.

Notably, that same magazine also recently claimed that Hudson and Fujikawa were engaged after he supposedly popped the question during their anniversary hike. The outlet went even further by speculating that the couple then “eloped” and “got married,” with a “glamorous reception” still in the works. That was bogus, as is this new engagement story.
