Is Kate Hudson begging Jennifer Lopez to help her make peace with ex-boyfriend Owen Wilson? That's the phony storyline featured in one of this week's tabloids. Gossip Cop looked into the situation and we've learned it's made-up.
Hudson and Wilson had an on-again, off-again romance from 2006 to 2008, and according to the National Enquirer, the actress is eager to apologize to her ex for how their relationship ended. The Wedding Crashers star attempted suicide in 2007 while he and Hudson were on a break, prompting an alleged "source" to tell the magazine, "She knows people still blame her for his suicide attempt, and she's desperate to make peace. And he hasn't ever wanted to speak to her!"
This assertion is simply wrong. In a 2007 People magazine cover story about Wilson's suicide attempt, the actor's longtime friend Polly Platt said "it would be irresponsible" to blame "any single thing" on what led to his troubles. Platt, who passed away in 2011, added, "He has demons; on some level, he's managed them for years." Additionally, Hudson and Wilson briefly rekindled their romance following his suicide attempt, so the idea that she was the driving force behind it simply isn't true or remotely fair to say.
Lopez, who's friendly with Hudson, is set to co-star with Wilson in the upcoming romantic comedy Marry Me, which seems to be the reason why the singer is being dragged into the narrative. The supposed source say Lopez is happy to help Hudson clear the air with Wilson, adding, "Jen and Owen are starring in a new movie together, so it's the perfect opportunity for her to help them put the past to rest."
Actually, it's the Enquirer that won't "put the past to rest," as the magazine is dredging up a tragic situation that occurred more than decade ago. Gossip Cop checked in with sources close to the situation, and we're assured the tabloid's article is completely false. Hudson hasn't asked Lopez to help her reconnect with Wilson. We would also have to agree with Wilson's late pal: it's highly irresponsible to suggest that Hudson is to blame for her ex-boyfriend trying to harm himself.
It should also be noted, the gossip media has little insight into Hudson's personal life. In June, Gossip Cop busted the Enquirer's sister outlet, Life & Style, for falsely claiming Hudson had been dumped by her boyfriend Danny Fujikawa, with whom she shares a baby daughter. As time has proven, the couple is still very much together. Last year, we called out OK!, a sister publication of both tabloids, for wrongly reporting that Hudson was pregnant with twin girls. This latest article, which randomly and unfairly rehashes her past relationship with Wilson, is no more accurate.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
