Karrueche Tran won a permanent restraining order against Chris Brown on Thursday. After she testified at a court hearing, which the singer skipped, the judge ruled in her favor.

As Gossip Cop reported, Tran was granted a temporary restraining order against Brown in February after alleging he was physically abusive during their relationship and was now threatening to kill her. The model’s best friend, J.Ryan LaCour, also received his own stay-away order after claiming Brown was harassing him, too, with threats of violence. Both then planned to get permanent restraining orders, which, despite the word “permanent,” are typically only obtained for five years at a time.

Last month, Brown was slammed by the judge for missing the first major court hearing in the case. While Tran notified the court in advance that she would be unable to attend in person due to work obligations and was available to testify via phone, the performer just didn’t show up at all. Brown’s camp tried to argue that the case should be dismissed, on a technicality, because Tran gave seven days notice instead of the standard 12. The judge, however, pointed out that LaCour was there and ready to testify, but Brown had not bothered to show up. As such, a continuance was issued.

Now the parties came together again today, although Brown was missing in action once more. There in person, Tran testified under oath that Brown had beaten her during their relationship, and after their breakup, sent text messages threatening to “beat the sh*t out of you.” On cross-examination, the musician’s attorney, Mark Geragos, pointed out that Tran never went to the police with her allegations.

Nonetheless, the judge sided with Tran, and granted the five-year restraining order. The terms bar Brown from contacting his ex, harassing her, and coming within a certain distance of her. Gossip Cop hears Brown’s side allegedly tried to work out an out-of-court agreement prior to the hearing, but Tran stuck to her guns and went through with her testimony. Evidence to bolster her case was also presented by her legal team.

As we previously reported, Tran’s manager slammed Geragos in April for accusing the “Claws” actress of making up the domestic violence claims for fame. In a response exclusive to Gossip Cop, Jacob York called the controversial lawyer “reprehensible” for allegedly trying to “distract from his client’s current violent issues.”

“Let them have their day in court and let the chips fall where they fall,” York insisted. Now that day has finally come. Gossip Cop has reached out for a comment on today’s ruling. The former couple is pictured above in 2014.
