A new report claiming Karrueche Tran was "terrified" of potentially running into ex-boyfriend Chris Brown at Sunday night's BET Awards is entirely fabricated. Gossip Cop can expose this fake news.
As Gossip Cop reported, the model got a five-year restraining order against Brown earlier this month, alleging he was physically abusive during their relationship and had threatened to kill her. Still, Tran was a presenter at Sunday's awards show in Los Angeles, while Brown was on hand to perform. But HollywoodLife is now falsely claiming the model feared for her safety all night.
A supposed "source" tells the site, "Karrueche was always watching her back and didn't really know what to expect... She was terrified that she would run into Chris." The outlet's dubious insider goes on to say Tran was "definitely scared that something might happen" at the event, and "was on pins and needles the whole time." But this account of events is simply inaccurate.
Prior to Sunday's BET Awards, Tran was given notice that Brown would be in the building, and the show's producers promised to take special measures to accommodate her restraining order against the rapper. According to TMZ, the model was placed in a holding room while Brown performed on stage, and he never sat in the audience at any point during the show. The show's organizers also ensured the two never crossed paths backstage. The model was aware beforehand that Brown would be kept at a distance, so she was never worried about a run-in.
Regardless, Gossip Cop also checked in with a source close to the situation, who assures us Tran wasn't "terrified" for her safety during the BET Awards. Of course, HollywoodLife routinely claims to have insight into situations before ultimately being proven wrong, so this latest example comes as no surprise.
Last year, Gossip Cop called out the site for falsely claiming Brown and Tran were back together, which most certainly wasn't the case. And back when the two were still dating, we busted the webloid for wrongly reporting Brown and Tran were getting married, which obviously never happened. This latest article is equally bogus.
Gossip Cop believes there to be elements of truth, but the story is ultimately misleading.
