Are the Kardashians really "boycotting" Khloe Kardashian's purported wedding to Tristan Thompson? A new report claims they "refuse to be near him." But Gossip Cop can debunk the story.
Even though Thompson was caught cheating on Kardashian, the National Enquirer claims she's "still plotting a path to the altar — but her family is vowing to boycott the wedding." It's specifically alleged that the famous clan "wants nothing to do with" the unfaithful athlete. A so-called "family pal" is quoted as saying, "She's hoping for a summer wedding, but the family has said they won't even be in the same room with him — let alone [at] a wedding chapel."
The supermarket tabloid goes on to contend Kardashian's siblings "don't want him anywhere near their California homes," though the magazine fails to mention that she and Thompson are currently living in Los Angeles. The supposed source maintains, "The last time they were all in the same room was during Khloe's delivery, and you could have cut the tension with a knife between Tristan and the sisters."
Gossip Cop doesn't doubt things were tense then, given that Kardashian gave birth just days after the cheating scandal broke. But some family members actually have been in the "same room" as him since then. On Monday, two days before this article was published, Kardashian and Thompson went on a double date with Kendall Jenner and Ben Simmons. They were also joined by matriarch Kris Jenner's longtime boyfriend, Corey Gamble. Clearly the contention that the entire family wants "nothing" to do with Thompson is wrong.
There's another unequivocal falsehood in the story when the outlet alleges Kris "broke down in tears when forced to discuss" Thompson's "public betrayal" on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." The video of Jenner discussing the situation on the talk show doesn't feature her crying at all. In fact, the momager only offered positivity, and there were some laughs, too. The publication tries to further deceive readers by illustrating its allegation with a photo of Jenner wiping her tears with a tissue, but that is not from her "Ellen" interview. The picture is actually a screengrab from a 2016 episode of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians," in which Jenner was asked about her "biggest fear" and broke down at the thought of losing someone.
As for her daughter planning a wedding, Gossip Cop already busted the Enquirer's sister site, RadarOnline, for claiming earlier this month that Kardashian is "desperate to get married." In actuality, E! Online, which often serves as a de facto mouthpiece for the reality stars, has reported that Kardashian is not "rushing" into marriage with Thompson. Additionally, People recently noted that Kardashian sees herself marrying him "eventually," but stressed that there haven't been any "serious wedding talks."
In sum, all of the main allegations in this report can be refuted with readily available evidence. The tabloid claims the Kardashian family won't be around Thompson, but Kendall willingly hung out with him this past week. It's asserted Kris cried over the scandal on "Ellen," but video shows she didn't shed any tears at all. It's alleged Kardashian is eyeing a summer wedding, but far more reliable outlets have already reported they have no plans to tie the knot. And the family obviously can't "boycott" nuptials that aren't even happening. In other words, this story is all wrong.
Gossip Cop believes there to be elements of truth, but the story is ultimately misleading.
