Kanye West was not “dissing” Tristan Thompson by posting a tribute to Lamar Odom on Twitter, despite bogus speculation. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk this claim. A rep for the rapper tells us the theory is baseless.
On Sunday, West shared a photo of himself and Khloe Kardashian’s ex-husband at his February 2016 Yeezy fashion show, along with the caption, “My favorite moment of walking into MSG to play Saint Pablo. I used to go to the hospital and play Lamar the album when he was learning to walk and talk again. Then we walked into the arena together.”
Odom, of course, was hospitalized in October 2015 after being found unconscious in a Nevada brothel. His first public appearance following his recovery was at West’s fashion show. With his tweet, the rapper was simply paying an emotional tribute to his friend, but HollywoodLife is wrongly interpreting the shoutout as “subtle shade” at Thompson, who cheated on Kardashian with several women over the past few months.
The unreliable site claims “the timing of this tweet couldn’t be more suspicious” as news of Thompson’s infidelity came to light just last week. “If you ask us, he’s definitely making it clear that he wishes Khloe had given Lamar another chance,” adds the repeatedly discredited blog.
This purely speculative article is entirely unfounded. The outlet doesn’t have a single source to back up any of these assertions, but West’s rep tells Gossip Cop on the record that the rapper wasn’t slamming Thompson with his tweet, which has absolutely nothing to do with the situation involving Kardashian. West was simply expressing appreciation for his friend, despite the site arbitrarily connecting his post to the controversy surrounding his sister-in-law and the NBA player. Meanwhile, publications such as the New York Post and the New York Daily News also covered West’s tribute to Odom, but neither of those outlets jumped to ridiculous conclusion that the tweet was a secret dig at Thompson.
Additionally, West’s message about Odom was part of a series of tweets in which West reflected on his life, career and philosophical beliefs. Just days ago West revealed he is writing a philosophy book that examines photos and memories. In that context, the music icon sharing the Odom photo and looking back at a moment they shared makes a lot of sense. There’s nothing about that tweet, when looked at independently or as part of the series, that suggests West was “making it clear he wishes” Kardashian gave Odom “another chance.”
It’s also worth noting, HollywoodLies, as it’s known, frequently pretends to have sources close to West, so one would think the site would check in with one of its so-called “insiders” before sharing false theories. Of course, Gossip Cop has been assured on multiple occasions that no one in the rapper’s trusted inner circle speaks to the online publication, so we’re not surprised by the missing sources. Regardless, West’s own spokesperson assures us the blog is completely off-base in its thinking.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
