Kanye West is not having a meltdown or fighting with Kim Kardashian over his new album. It's just a random rumor from a tabloid. Gossip Cop can correct the story.
Life & Style's latest issue claims West is having a breakdown over his new album, which is believed to be titled Jesus Is King. The project was expected to be released last month, but fans were disappointed — but not surprised — when it failed to emerge. "Kanye is freaking out about his album," an "insider" tells the magazine, "and won't release it until it's absolutely perfect."
"Kanye is a perfectionist," a supposed "source close to the 42-year-old rapper" tells the magazine. "He's always redoing things at the last minute, but this is even more extreme." The outlet also notes that West has "adopted a devil-may-care attitude" in a line that places more priority on its wordplay than making sense.
"Kanye's spending so much money rerecording things and flying people here and there," adds the anonymous insider. "He has so many people involved in this recording because of his giant Sunday Service team, and he's funding all of it himself." Kardashian, however, is less than pleased over the whole ordeal, says the tabloid. West's wife of five years "is flipping over the amount of money he's throwing away," the unknown source concludes.
Gossip Cop ran the story by West's spokesperson, who dismissed the rumor entirely. The album was initially slated to come out in September 2018 under the name Yandhi. However, West explained on Twitter a month after it was supposed to come out that the release was being delayed. "After performing again, I realize the new album I've been working on isn't ready yet," the rapper wrote. "I'll announce the release date once it's done." Delays are extremely expected with the rapper's music, and that's doubly true for his newest effort.
West's highly specific and unique demands, as well as his perfectionist nature regarding his music, are infamous at this point. It shouldn't come as a surprise to any fan of the rapper, let alone his wife, that the album still hasn't been released. Fans of West even have a plethora of ongoing jokes about the rapper's constant changes to the track "Wolves" from his 2016 album, Life of Pablo, which included an update a month after the release of the album. Why would Kardashian be "flipping" about the current process when she's been fine with West's methods for all of his other projects he's worked on during their five years of marriage?
Life & Style is merely trying to ride the wave of interest in West's highly anticipated album. The rapper's "meltdown" isn't mentioned at all in the tabloid's ridiculous article about Brad Pitt helping West break into acting from just a few weeks ago, which Gossip Cop debunked. We also called the magazine out for a phony rumor about Kardashian worrying about West leaving her for another model. The outlet clearly has no insight into West or Kardashian's professional and personal lives.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
