Justin Theroux was not "caught" with Naomi Watts, nor is his marriage to Jennifer Aniston now "set to erupt in a $170 million divorce," despite a new report. Gossip Cop can correct this. We're told it's "completely false."
According to the National Enquirer, Aniston "flipped out after discovering Justin wrapped newly single Naomi Watts in a bear hug." The tabloid then quotes a so-called source as saying, "Justin looked totally enthralled with Naomi," and that they appeared "engrossed in conversation." The rest of the magazine's article is a list of times Theroux and Aniston went to events without each other and even an absurd observation from a doctor, with no connection to the actress, saying the "Friends" star looks "like she lost 20 pounds."
Allow Gossip Cop to examine this tabloid story. For starters, Theroux was not "caught" with Naomi Watts, nor was Aniston remotely upset by the two old friends hugging. And it most assuredly is not causing Theroux and Aniston to divorce. Watts and Theroux have been pals for a long time and even starred together 16 years ago in Mulholland Drive. What actually happened is Theroux and Watts saw each other in public and greeted one another with a platonic hug. That's all.
As for the publication's weak case about Aniston and Theroux's marriage about to "erupt in a $170 million divorce" because, for example, "Justin went stag to the Golden Globes," that's also misleading. Theroux actually left early from the HBO Globes after-party to go home and hang out with Aniston. Then there's the bizarrely unrelated comment by the doctor about Aniston looking like "she lost 20 pounds." Of course, if the actress had gained a few pounds, the tabloid would have claimed she's overeating to cope with her (nonexistent) marriage problems. Also, what the magazine significantly omitted is that Aniston and Theroux just celebrated her 48th birthday together on a trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, during which they appeared happy and in love. Still, Gossip Cop checked with an insider, who assures us the outlet's article is "completely false."
Gossip Cop has busted the Enquirer on many occasions for its factually inaccurate stories. In fact, the tabloid claimed nearly a year ago that Aniston was going to divorce Theroux, and obviously that didn't happen. Gossip Cop also called out the magazine a few months ago for a tasteless tale that falsely alleged Aniston suffered a miscarriage and was adopting an orphan. Neither of those reports were true, and the same goes for the latest article that wrongly contends Theroux was caught with Watts and now his marriage is over.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
