One of this week’s tabloids claims Justin Theroux is begging Jennifer Aniston for forgiveness because he feels he’s been exiled from Hollywood following their split. The premise is completely fabricated. Gossip Cop can debunk it.

According to Heat, the actor has been getting “some rather brutal silent treatment” from his estranged wife and her A-list friends following their breakup. An alleged insider tells the magazine, “Justin has started to become desperate for peace talks between him and Jen, as he fears the walls are closing in on him in Hollywood thanks to her giving him the cold shoulder.”

The outlet’s questionable source goes on to say that Theroux’s career “is not where he wants it to be right now” and he suspects he’s being “overlooked” for roles due to “his frosty relationship with Jen.” The seemingly phony tipster adds, “She isn’t purposefully blackballing him, but the fact is, Jen has a lot of friends in this town and people talk. Justin can sense there are some doors being shut because it’s all connected to Jen’s clique.”

The tabloid’s article is based on the false premise that Theroux’s career isn’t going well, which simply isn’t the case. The actor has co-starring roles in two major December releases, the Ruth Bader Ginsburg biopic On the Basis of Sex and the Transformers spinoff Bumblebee. Theroux will also voice the Tramp in Disney’s upcoming live-action/CGI remake of Lady and the Tramp.

Additionally, Theroux is set to co-star with Olivia Munn in the drama Violet. Not only is Munn very friendly with Aniston, but the film is being directed by Justine Bateman, who’s brother Jason Bateman is one of the actress’s closest friends. It’s clear Aniston’s Hollywood circle hasn’t “exiled” her estranged husband.

Meanwhile, Theroux said in a New York Times profile last month that his separation from Aniston was “gentle” and there’s “no animosity” between the two. The actor added, “Neither one of us is looking to throw hatchets at each other. It’s more like, it’s amicable. It’s boring, but, you know, we respected each other enough that it was as painless as it could be.” Simply put, Theroux isn’t begging for forgiveness from someone who’s not angry with him.

Regardless of the tabloid’s story being baseless, Gossip Cop still checked in with Theroux’s spokesperson, who tells us on the record that it’s “absurd.” Despite what the magazine’s anonymous and untraceable “insider” claims, a rep qualified to speak on the actor’s behalf confirms the report is made-up.
