Justin Theroux is NOT talking about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s divorce to promote his new movie, The Girl on the Train, despite a ridiculous webloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively bust this claim. We’re told it’s “nonsense.”

In the wake of Pitt and Jolie divorcing, Theroux’s wife Jennifer Aniston has been dragged into this narrative that doesn’t concern her since she and Pitt split more than a decade ago. But, of course, Theroux is still being questioned about the situation during his promotional tour for The Girl on the Train, and the actor has tactfully addressed the subject.

In a recent interview with the U.K.’s Sunday Times, Theroux praised his wife for dealing with all the tabloid rumors over the years, calling her a “proper badass” who’s “lived through a lot of bulls**t.” He added of Aniston, “Many people would have crumbled under some of the stresses that have been put on her. I’m very proud of her for that… for the way she handles herself.”

And when asked directly about Pitt and Jolie in an interview with Business Insider, Theroux simply expressed, “As a child of divorce, all I can say is that’s terrible news for those children and that’s all you can really say. It’s boring to sort of comment on anything else. People are having a bad time. That’s horrible.” Somehow, Celeb Dirty Laundry has interpreted these comments as the actor exploiting the drama to bring attention to his new film.

“As much as Justin despises all of the gossip surrounding his marriage and wife’s personal life, he’s also using it to make headlines himself,” wrongly speculates the site. The webloid also inaccurately adds, “Brangelina’s divorce has nothing to do with Justin’s film career, but he keeps on bringing it up during his press tours.” Only, Theroux has never once brought up the couple’s breakup during an interview or tried to capitalize on it in any manner. He has only given considerate responses when asked about it.

The repeatedly discredited CDL even goes on to accuse Theroux of using Aniston to advance his career, alleging he “knew that being Mr. Jennifer Aniston would also help him land roles he would otherwise never get.” Despite the outlet not having a single source to back up its preposterous claims, most of which are provably false already, Gossip Cop still checked in with a reliable source close to the situation. We’re exclusively assured the actor isn’t using the Brangelina divorce to promote The Girl on the Train, and the site’s assertion otherwise is complete “nonsense.”
