A tabloid claims that Justin Theroux met and had an "instant connection" with Angelina Jolie years before he was introduced to Jennifer Aniston. The story is completely fabricated. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk it.
According to Woman's Day, Theroux and Jolie came into contact at a charity event in Los Angeles years before he met Aniston on the set of the 2012 movie Wanderlust. Tellingly, the magazine provides zero details about the supposed "charity event," such as the year it took place and which charity they were supporting. Still, an alleged insider tells the magazine, "Justin always kept that quiet from Jen as he knew it would infuriate her. They had an instant connection all those years ago."
The magazine's article is based on claims from an anonymous and seemingly nonexistent "source," but Gossip Cop checked in with Theroux's rep, who tells us it's "false." While the magazine hides behind an unnamed and untraceable "insider," the actor's spokesperson is going on the record to dismiss the story, which lacks any kind of specific information about Theroux and Jolie's supposed run-in.
The tabloid's article also includes additional claims that Gossip Cop already corrected. The magazine alleges that Jolie recently invited Theroux out to dinner in New York City "under the guise of offering him a movie role," but with the hidden motive of pursuing him romantically. The outlet further contends that the actress wants to start a "revenge romance" with Theroux to get back at Aniston for supposedly "reuniting" with Brad Pitt. Of course, Aniston and Pitt aren't back together, so the premise makes very little sense. It isn't original either.
Gossip Cop already busted In Touch last week when it published a cover story claiming that Jolie was trying to get "revenge" on Aniston by "seducing" Theroux. That article also stated that the pair hit it off during a dinner in NYC. Only, Jolie hasn't visited New York since she wrapped filming Maleficent 2 in London in late August. The actress returned to Los Angeles with her kids following the end of production. Regardless, Theroux's spokesperson told us the story was untrue, and a source close to Jolie said the same.
Meanwhile, another Jolie confidante recently told us the actress is "not interested in dating" and is "focused on her children and work." E! News similarly reported that Jolie is "not dating" and is "very focused on her kids." And People also confirmed that Jolie "is absolutely not seeing anyone and will not be." The actress certainly isn't planning on dating Theroux, and the two never shared an "instant connection" at a charity event either.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
