Justin Bieber is not on suicide watch following his recent Instagram post about his rise to fame and personal struggles, despite a false tabloid report. Gossip Cop examined the story. It’s wholly incorrect and misrepresentative of what the singer actually expressed.

For context, Bieber posted a note on his Instagram page last week that explained his feelings and experiences growing up as a child star and pop icon. The singer’s post seems to have been inspired by a similar note from Miley Cyrus a few weeks before — Bieber commented on her post, saying, “Love this Miley!” Both posts were honest confessions to past mistakes, and how they’ve since grown and learned to adapt to the immense pressure of being in the limelight. Bieber also opened up about his struggles with depression and anxiety.

The tabloid NW decided to exploit this candid moment of vulnerability and turn it into phony drama. Referring to Bieber’s note as a “lengthy rant on Instagram about his drug use and state of mind,” the tabloid hones in one particular line: “It can get to the point where you don’t even want to live anymore.” The magazine then claims to have words from Bieber’s “loved ones,” allegedly expressing concern for him.

“Justin’s not in a good way,” an unnamed source tells the magazine. “He’s been on suicide watch before, earlier this year — and now the general consensus among his family and friends is that he should not be left alone, even for a minute.” For clarity’s sake, Gossip Cop already busted the fake stories about Bieber being on “suicide watch” earlier this year.

The tabloid goes on to claim that Bieber’s wife, Hailey Baldwin, has reached her limit. “Hailey’s too young to deal with such immense pressure,” says the supposed insider. “No one her age should be managing a person with drug addiction and deep depressive episodes.”

However, Gossip Cop has repeatedly debunked claims about Baldwin struggling to deal with Bieber’s depression. The spouses are both very supportive of one another, and there are no signs of the two having trouble over the singer’s mental health.

The outlet then twists Bieber’s admission of “doing heavy drugs at 19” into something more sinister, alleging those “heavy drugs” were crack cocaine and crystal meth. “Addiction to drugs like that is a lifelong battle and Justin knows he’ll have to deal with this forever,” adds the questionable tipster. “It’s a soul-crushing thought and he regrets the moment the first drug he took entered his body.”

The seemingly phony source adds, “Everyone is hoping and praying that he’s got this. To be so damaged at such a young age is a huge hurdle to overcome. It’s nice he’s got Hailey and his church, but this calls for top-level medical help.” Gossip Cop busted NW in March for falsely claiming Baldwin was forcing Bieber into rehab. The magazine doesn’t bother to explain why the singer never went to rehab earlier this year.

There is absolutely no evidence to suggest that Bieber was addicted to crack or meth. The singer been drug tested at a few points in his career after legal incidents, and none of those tests have revealed any trace of either substance. The tabloid just named two of the most extreme examples with no regard for the truth. In reality, Bieber has admitted to struggling with prescription drugs, but never the two mentioned in the tabloid’s article.

The magazine’s article is wrong in nearly every way. Bieber’s post wasn’t a “cry for help” or a warning sign. The tabloid willfully ignores the dozens of lines in Bieber’s message about acceptance and acknowledgement of his past issues, as well as how he’s recovered and found a healthier way to live. “It’s taken me years to bounce back from all of these terrible decisions, fix broken relationships, and change relationship habits,” Bieber wrote. “Luckily, God blessed me with extraordinary people who love me for me. Now I am navigating the best season of life: ‘MARRIAGE!'”

The entire purpose of Bieber’s post was to explain his past and reassure his fans that they’re not alone in their own struggles with mental health. He even concluded, “All this to say, even when the odds are against you, keep fighting.” Those aren’t the words of someone who’s suicidal. The magazine is misconstruing an inspiring statement as a sign that someone is struggling. Gossip Cop will continue to call out these negative and incorrect pieces as they emerge.
