Justin Bieber Cancel Purpose Tour Church Religion

Justin Bieber is not starting his own church, despite a number of inaccurate reports. Gossip Cop can correct this claim. We’re told it’s “not true.”

As Gossip Cop reported, Bieber canceled the last few concerts of his “Purpose Tour” on Monday, citing exhaustion from being on the road the past two years. Shortly after he pulled out of the remaining 15 stadium shows in the U.S. and Asia, TMZ claimed Bieber called it quits to dedicate himself to Jesus Christ. Perez Hilton then further alleged the singer was going to switch careers and “start his own church.” The blogger writes, “The Church of Bieber, or, if he wants to go more contemporary, Biebertology, could actually be a reality.”

Perez’s report is based on a reporter for the Australian TV show “Today Extra” telling the morning program, “I am led to believe that the real reason [Bieber has] come off the road is because he wants to reconnect with his faith and maybe even start his own Church.” Without fact-checking that contention, Perez asserts the pop star is “working to take his Beliebers to a higher ground with a church of his own.” And to illustrate his point, the blogger took a photo of Bieber kneeling down with his hands together in prayer and scribbled next to it, “Beliebe in me” (see above).

The Sun published a similar article about Bieber wanting to start his own church, also without investigating whether or not it was true. Gossip Cop, on other hand, looked into the bizarre assertion and a source close to the situation assures us it’s “not true.” While the superstar is very close to Hillsong pastor Carl Lentz and his family, and often seeks their counsel and guidance, he’s not starting his very own church. The claim is holy, er, wholly inaccurate.
