Before Justin Bieber married Hailey Baldwin this year, he briefly rekindled with Selena Gomez. That naturally led to many stories about their relationship, including the top Bieber rumor of 2018 that Gomez was pregnant with his baby. Gossip Cop was the first to debunk the false tale and, of course, time (and reality) has confirmed our reporting.
In February, NW claimed that while on a trip to Laguna Beach in Orange County, California, Gomez told Bieber she was pregnant with his child. The magazine's so-called "source" asserted that while he "wasn't expecting" it, Bieber was "ecstatic" because it was a "dream come true." In preparation for fatherhood, contended the tabloid's tipster, a "super excited" Bieber began "following pregnancy accounts on Instagram and posed for photos with a fan's baby while out in L.A."
It should be noted that posing with infants is not a sign one's going to be a dad. In fact, the singer has posed with babies and youngsters for years. More significantly, while it's true Bieber has spoken about wanting to be married and a "young dad," the tabloid had no proof whatsoever that he was having a child with Gomez.
At the time, sources within both Bieber and Gomez's camps assured Gossip Cop it was 100 percent untrue. It bears mentioning that by the magazine's own account, Gomez would have given birth to Bieber's baby in November. Obviously, she did not.
Just three weeks after the publication's bogus article, Bieber and Gomez took a break from dating from which they never reconciled. And, as widely reported, not long after his split from Gomez, Bieber embarked on a whirlwind romance with Hailey Baldwin. Curiously, without referencing its previous error involving Gomez, in June NW next claimed Bieber and Baldwin were having a baby.
That would mean Baldwin, who Bieber married in September, would be due in a few months. But she's not. Clearly, that tabloid's sources are either woefully ill-informed or quite possibly made-up, since the outlet also maintained a month before they wed that Baldwin and Bieber were breaking up. Whoops.
As 2018 comes to an end, it's clear Gomez was not pregnant with Bieber's baby. As noted above, he didn't even date her much beyond when the article claimed Bieber was "ecstatic" about becoming a dad. While there were many inaccurate stories about Bieber in 2018, the tale about him becoming a dad was the top rumor of the year. Gossip Cop hopes the tabloids focus more on fact-checking articles about Bieber in 2019 instead of birthing more false reports about the singer.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
