An article claiming to know why Justin Bieber was unaware of Selena Gomez’s kidney transplant was made up. It’s coming from an unreliable webloid that is pretending to personally know Bieber’s reaction to the procedure. But this information was actually cribbed from another outlet, Gossip Cop can reveal.

“Why Justin Bieber Had No Idea Selena Gomez Had A Kidney Transplant,” HollywoodLife is announcing in a headline. The site proclaims it has “EXCLUSIVE details on how he was totally in the dark about her operation,” but only regurgitated assertions that were published hours earlier by TMZ. HollywoodLies, however, is falsely proclaiming that a “source close to the Biebs” actually told the blog, “He is hearing about this just as everyone is hearing about it.”

The supposed snitch goes on, “He’s he is happy that she is okay, but he has no interest in contacting her to see how she is doing. This will not be a catalyst for them to talk again. He is generally happy she is okay, but that is all he wants to deal with right now when it comes to her.” While there’s nothing egregiously wrong about these contentions, the issue is that they are inauthentic and illegitimate. As Gossip Cop has noted repeatedly, those in Bieber’s inner circle don’t go spilling about him to HollywoodLies.

It was just last year that Bieber blasted HollywoodLife as “untruthful and “hurtful.” He even encouraged fans to tweet “#HollywoodLifeIsGarbage,” and publicly wished for the webloid to be shut down. His feelings haven’t changed. So why would a “source close to the Biebs” tell his personal thoughts to a site he thinks is “hurtful” and “garbage”? No real “source” would. What’s really going on is HollywoodLies is trying to capitalize on Gomez’s health woes by pretending to have “exclusive” insight.

Gossip Cop already pointed out that the outlet made up a story on how The Weekend helped Gomez through the transplant. The assertions were plausible, but disingenuous because no one close to the singer-actress actually spoke with the outlet, contrary to HollywoodLies’ claim. The publication just wanted to exploit this hot topic and has done so with multiple stories, including these manufactured ones involving The Weeknd and Bieber. It’s about getting clicks, not delivering real news to readers. And this is among the reasons Gomez herself famously called HollywoodLife “the worst.”
