A new story claiming to know the reason why Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez haven't made their relationship "Instagram official" is entirely made-up. Gossip Cop can correct this manufactured report, which was posted by a particularly unreliable website.

HollywoodLife, which is regularly caught peddling concocted stories about Gomez and Bieber, alleges it has the scoop about why they're "hesitant" to post about their "renewed love" online. In its latest tale, a so-called "source" is quoted as saying, "Social media has been a big trigger for Justin and Selena in the past so they're simply choosing to avoid having it be a part of their relationship right now." The site's seemingly fake insider goes on to assert, "They're extremely protective of what they've got at the moment. It's so fresh and so new."

Before we go any further, it should be noted that this new report is coming from the same website that Gomez herself called "the worst" in an interview with Billboard. What's more, even Bieber wanted HollywoodLife shut down for being "untruthful" and "hurtful." That's why it's hard to imagine that anyone who's remotely close with either star would feed the aptly nicknamed HollywoodLies with stories about them. As Gossip Cop has repeatedly pointed out in the past, the outlet appears not to really have any Gomez or Bieber insiders.

Remember, we corrected the untrustworthy webloid earlier this year for falsely alleging Gomez was going to be a judge on "American Idol." The outlet claimed then it had insider, too. And Gossip Cop also debunked the site's story in July that wrongly linked Bieber to a "mystery girl." Of course, if the blog knew anything about Bieber, it would have known that woman was Laura Lentz, the wife of his pastor Carl Lentz. Over and over again, HollywoodLies has proven how little it knows about both stars, all while exposing how it makes up articles about them.

There's no rule that celebrities have to make their relationships "Instagram official." Bieber and Gomez are clearly happy, and don't feel compelled to put their relationship on display. It's bad enough the paparazzi are following their every move. As even the most casual Gossip Cop reader has come to understand, HollywoodLies seems to just post one falsehood after another.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
