A tabloid report about Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin hoping Selena Gomez leaves them alone is made-up. The phony story was inspired by Gomez’s new song, “Lose You To Love Me.” Gossip Cop has investigated the claim and we can clarify it.
Gomez released her latest single on October 23 and almost immediately there was speculation that the song was a comment on her past relationship with Bieber, who had a wedding ceremony with Baldwin earlier in the month. Life & Style is taking advantage of the press by publishing a bogus report about Bieber and Baldwin being happy about it and wanting Gomez to “find a new purpose.” Although song is likely about Bieber, and the spouses might not be thrilled about that, the tabloid’s reporting is way over the top and mostly untrue.
The outlet quotes what it claims is a “pal” as saying, “Justin and Hailey hope this is the last song she writes about him. They just want Selena to leave them alone.” Harsh words, but not how the couple are reacting. The much more reliable E! News is reporting how Bieber and Baldwin really feel about Gomez’s new music. A source tells the website, “It isn’t ideal for Hailey but she understands the creative process of writing music and that Justin had a past.”
The reputable outlet also notes, “Justin and Hailey both want Selena to be happy and in a good place and aren’t phased by it.” There’s no indication Bieber or Baldwin feel like Gomez is bothering them with her latest hit, nor is the song affecting their happiness.
This kind of shoddy reporting by Life & Style about Bieber, Baldwin, and Gomez has happened before. In July, the tabloid falsely claimed Beiber and Baldwin were having marriage problems over Gomez. That story asserted that Baldwin thought Bieber was “stuck on Gomez” and there was a “major strain on their marriage” over Bieber’s feelings towards his ex. The article was completely untrue. Gossip Cop busted the report at the time by citing multiple social media posts contradicting it.
Life & Style also alleged Bieber and Gomez were engaged and going to secretly marry in early 2018. It’s pretty obvious how that reporting worked out for the publication. Less than four months later, Gomez and Bieber broke up for good. Bieber started dating Baldwin two months after that and was engaged to her three months later. It might be smart for the tabloid to stop commenting on the couple, as it clearly doesn’t know anything about them.
Gossip Cop believes there to be elements of truth, but the story is ultimately misleading.
