Justin Bieber never accused Selena Gomez of “using him” while the two were dating, despite an inaccurate tabloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct this claim. We’re told it’s not true.

As Gossip Cop reported, Bieber and Gomez allegedly had an Instagram fight on Sunday, but not all of the comments being attributed to each singer are actually real. We checked in earlier with multiple sources close to the situation, and we were exclusively told the majority of the screenshots from the ex-couple’s supposed correspondence were photoshopped.

The situation began when Bieber threatened to make his Instagram private because many of his followers were attacking his 17-year-old girlfriend Sofia Richie. Gomez then commented on Bieber’s post, writing, “If you can’t handle the hate then stop posting pictures of your girlfriend lol -it should be special between you two only. Don’t be mad at your fans. They love you. They were there for you before anyone.”

That’s where the real discussion ended, and Bieber didn’t respond to Gomez’s post, despite numerous tabloids wrongly reporting that a heated back-and-forth went down. But most of these outlets were duped by a series of fake screenshots detailing a conversation that simply never happened. However, Us Weekly now claims in an online article to know the reason why Bieber supposedly “lashed out” at Gomez.

But the publication’s entire post is based on a fake Instagram comment that Bieber never actually wrote. The singer’s manufactured “response” to Gomez reads, “It’s funny to see people that used me for attention and still try to point the finger this way.” The magazine then quotes a so-called “source” as saying, “Justin thinks Selena is all about attention so that’s why he said that.” Only, Bieber did NOT write that comment. It’s photoshopped, a source connected to him exclusively confirms to Gossip Cop. So either the outlet’s “source” is woefully misinformed, or simply doesn’t exist.

The outlet’s “insider” further claims Gomez “was always about making their relationship public and getting publicity, and he thinks that’s what she is doing now.” But seeing as Us Weekly’s entire story and “insider” information is based around phony comments that the singer never wrote, it seems apparent that no one from Bieber’s inner circle spoke to the magazine. Regardless, Gossip Cop is assured Bieber never accused Gomez of “using him.”
