Justin Bieber Caught Up In Church Child Molester Scandal,” reads a misleading headline from one of the tabloids. One would think the article is about Bieber and him allegedly being “caught up” in a “child molester scandal.” But the reality is the singer has nothing to do any such heinous act.

Instead, what the National Enquirer delivers is six photos in a gallery with captions, including one that reads, “Justin Bieber canceled his world tour in July, but even more shockingly, an insider has claimed the ‘Baby’ singer now plans to start his own branch of a church linked to a pedophile.” Next, the supermarket tabloid has a picture of Bieber with members of the Hillsong Church in Sydney, and reiterates that he’s looking to “head his own chapter of the group.” In the third image, the magazine notes that Bieber’s been affiliated with the Hillsong Church since 2010. So basically, halfway through its story, there has been no allegation of the singer being “caught up” in a “child molester scandal.”

From there, the tabloid pivots to how the founder of the Hillsong Church, Brian Houston, was told that his own dad molested a boy for two years, beginning in 1969. Bieber was born 15 years after the church’s founder’s father sexually abused a child. The rest of the photos and captions are further devoted to Houston’s dad’s deplorable behavior. None of that, however, has anything to do with Bieber nor, for that matter, with the Hillsong Church, which was started in 1983.

The magazine’s headline is somewhat like fake news in that it bears no relation to the truth. Bieber has not been entangled in a “church child molester scandal” nor does he have any connection whatsoever to one. It should be noted, as well, that no one has confirmed Bieber is actually starting his own church.

Of course, the Enquirer has a habit of publishing falsehoods about the singer. In the past, for example, Gossip Cop busted the tabloid when it absurdly maintained Bieber was moving to Amsterdam. We also corrected the magazine when it ridiculously contended Bieber was insuring his penis for $5 million. While none of those claims were true, they at least involved Bieber, as opposed to this latest article, which is both untrue and horribly misleading.
