Is Justin Bieber desperately trying to become best friends with Chris Pratt? One of this week's new tabloids claims the singer wants to form a bromance with actor because both are members of the same church. Gossip Cop looked into the story and we've exclusively learned the truth.
Bieber is a dedicated member of Hillsong Church, the religious organization founded in Australia in the '80s that has since gone global and become a celebrity hotspot. Earlier this month, Pratt was spotted at the church's Los Angeles parish, prompting Star to concoct a bogus story surrounding the two famous members. The unreliable outlet contends that Bieber has made repeated attempts to "become besties" with Pratt, but his methods have proved unsuccessful.
A supposed "source" tells the magazine, "Justin is trying so hard to get Chris to like him, it's a little sad. Whenever he sees Chris at services, he makes a beeline for him and chats him up." But the outlet says Pratt considers Avengers: Infinity War co-star Chris Evans his "go-to bro," before quoting its dubious insider as saying, "Justin just isn't his cup of tea. They both go to the same church, and that's where their similarities end."
Gossip Cop, however, checked in with a rep for Pratt, who exclusively assures us the tabloid's report is "completely inaccurate." It seems Star was inspired to manufacture a baseless article featuring Bieber and the actor after learning they attend the same church, because there's no truth to this story. In fact, this isn't the first time we've had to debunk a bogus report surrounding the singer's religious affiliations.
Gossip Cop recently busted Star's sister publication, the National Enquirer, for publishing a misleading story alleging Bieber was caught up in a "child molester scandal" at his church, which certainly isn't the case. And earlier this year, we corrected TMZ for wrongly reporting Bieber started dating Hailee Steinfeld after meeting her at Hillsong Church. This latest article involving Pratt's unrequited friendship is equally untrue.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
