Jumanji Box Office Top 10

Jumanji is the king of the box office jungle for the second week in a row, continuing the film’s unusual trajectory. Gets the details and check out this weekend’s Top 10 movies below!

As Gossip Cop has reported, Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle is a follow-up to the 1995 fantasy adventure flick starring Robin Williams. With Dwayne Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions as one of the companies behind the new version, there’s been several upgrades, including an increase in action scenes. But despite largely positive reviews, the film was initially prevented from topping the box office chart due to the huge success of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Last weekend, however, Jumanji climbed up in the rankings and took first place in its third week out. And now it’s holding on to the number one spot and has easily won this weekend, too, with a whopping $27 million. Somewhat close behind, but not nearly close enough, was The Post, which brought in $18.6 million for its first weekend in wide release. Liam Neeson’s latest fast-paced effort, The Commuter, sped to third place with $12.5 million. Insidious: The Last Key scared up $12.1 million in ticket sales to nab the number four spot. The Greatest Showman still entertained audiences enough to land in fifth place, thanks to $11.8 million at the box office.

Rounding out the Top 10 was The Last Jedi, which slipped all the way down to the sixth position with $11.3 million. And then there’s Paddington 2, which had a disappointing seventh-place opening with receipts only totaling $10.6 million. Right below that was Proud Mary in eighth with an even $10 million, followed by Pitch Perfect 3 in a distant ninth with just $5.7 million. Just making it into the Top 10 in the last slot and edging out Molly’s Game for the final position was Darkest Hour. It earned a total of $4.5 million.
