Julianne Hough and husband Brooks Laich aren’t having marriage problems after the dancer revealed in an interview that she’s “not straight,” despite a false tabloid report. Gossip Cop can correct the story. We looked into the situation and found it to be totally baseless.
A headline in the latest issue of Life & Style reads, “Julianne & Brooks: On Shaky Ground.” The story is based on Hough’s recent interview for the cover of Women’s Health. In it, she recounts a conversation she had with her husband: “I [told him], ‘You know I’m not straight, right?’ And he was like, ‘I’m sorry, what?’ I was like, ‘I’m not. But I choose to be with you.'”
According to the outlet, Laich “felt lied to” and the revelation brought out a jealous streak in him. “He wants to support Julianne, but they’ve been fighting more than ever,” says a supposed source. “This is definitely causing problems in their marriage.” The tabloid even went so far as to misconstrue an incomplete quote from Hough: “Is he going to love this version of me?” In the interview, she immediately added, “But the more I dropped into my most authentic self, the more attracted he was to me.” You won’t find that portion of her response in the tabloid.
Not only is the magazine’s story totally made up, it completely misunderstands the topic at hand. It misses the fact that Hough hasn’t changed at all and is the same person her husband married. And it totally ignores what Hough and Laich’s marriage is like.
Laich actually reposted the Women’s Health cover and story on his Instagram, captioning it with, “So proud of my wife for the woman she is, and her courage to share her journey of trials and triumphs!” and finishing it off with a sweet, “Love you babe!” On episode 51 of his podcast, How Men Think, he said, “I love my wife. So I want my wife to feel safe enough to be able to bring up any conversation she wants.” He’s obviously succeeded at that goal.
Here’s something else the tabloid didn’t bother to mention. Hough said in her Women’s Health story that her husband was extremely understanding of her revelation. “He’s so proud. My husband is the most supportive person ever,” she said. “We talk about it all the time, if that was not the case we would have a very different relationship. But the reason why our relationship works is because we’re completely raw and open and exposed.”
Unfortunately, this wouldn’t be the first time the spouses were the subjects of false rumors. OK! claimed in June 2017 to have the inside scoop on what supposedly happened at Hough and Laich’s wedding. That bogus story was published one month before the couple’s ceremony took place. This latest article chooses to ignore what the couple themselves have said about their relationship.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
