Julia Roberts is not furious over Richard Gere supposedly proposing to his girlfriend Alejandra Silva, despite a made-up tabloid report. For starters, the actor didn't get engaged. Additionally, Roberts isn't in love with her Pretty Woman co-star. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk this entirely inaccurate story.
Gossip Cop called out Star last year for publishing a bogus cover story alleging Roberts and Gere were in a "secret romance." There was no truth to the claim, and the Oscar-winning actress has been married to Danny Moder for more than 15 years. Unfortunately, the unreliable magazine has now printed a follow-up story about Gere betraying his former co-star by popping the question to Silva.
"Julia must be feeling very sore about Richard's news, especially since there are rumors that he and Alejandra actually eloped while in France," a so-called "source" tells the outlet. "Julia spent literally decades loving this man and they have an intense, powerful connection. Of course she'll be the first to congratulate him, but deep down it's got to be heartbreaking to see her soulmate commit to someone else."
The tabloid's alleged insider goes on to regurgitate false rumors about Roberts' marriage being in trouble, claiming the actress and her husband "have been living separate lives for a while now." The supposed tipster adds, "It's only a matter of time before they call it quits for good." The "source" further maintains that Roberts has been leaning on Gere amid her purported marital problems.
But Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the situation, who exclusively assures us the tabloid's report is inaccurate on a number of levels. First and foremost, Gere and Silva aren't engaged, so this entire story is based on a false premise. Secondly, and equally as important, Roberts and Moder aren't having marriage problems. And to reiterate, the Pretty Woman co-stars have never been an item. Gossip Cop can confirm there's simply no truth to the publication's account of events.
Although it's true that Roberts and Gere have remained friends since meeting on the set of their 1990 romantic comedy, their relationship has always been platonic. The actress certainly wouldn't be upset if her pal were to get engaged, but Gere hasn't proposed to his girlfriend regardless. The magazine's article is just a compilation of lies.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
