One of this week's tabloids claims Julia Roberts has been "in hiding" amid alleged marriage problems with husband Danny Moder. The story is completely untrue. Gossip Cop can debunk it.
Earlier this month, the actress and her husband of 16 years vacationed in Alaska and Italy with their three children. According to Woman's Day Australia, the getaway was really a last ditch effort to save the couple's marriage, but it didn't work. An alleged insider tells the magazine that Roberts has now "taken refuge" in her Malibu home and only leaves "to run errands for her kids."
The supposed source adds, "As soon as they got home from their trips it seemed nothing has changed. No doubt she's wondering how their marriage has dipped to its lowest ebb yet. You can't blame her from wanting to hide from the world."
The tabloid's report isn't just false, it's also poorly timed. On Sunday night, Roberts presented the award for Best Picture at the Oscars. As opposed to being holed up in her house, the actress presented the biggest award of the night at an awards show watched by millions of people around the globe.
Meanwhile, Gossip Cop already called out Woman's Day earlier this month when it wrongly reported that Roberts and Moder went on vacation to save their marriage. The premise wasn't true then and it's no more accurate now. For starters, Roberts posted an Instagram tribute to her husband in honor of Valentine's Day earlier this month. The actress shared a photo of the two together, along with several heart emojis. Valentine's Day fell several days after the spouses returned home from their trip.
Just last month, Roberts and Moder showed a ton of PDA at the Golden Globe Awards, after which the actress shared an Instagram photo of the two kissing in their car while eating In-N-Out burgers. And just a few months ago, Roberts gushed about her husband on Gwyneth Paltrow's Goop podcast. The actress noted that marrying Moder changed her life "in the most incredible, indescribable way." She added, "He truly, to this day, to this minute is just my favorite human."
It should also be noted, Roberts said in her cover story for the November 2018 issue of Harper's Bazaar that false tabloid stories about her marriage "still hurt my feelings." The actress added, "Because I'm so proud of my marriage... there's so much happiness wrapped up in what we've found together." Roberts isn't in hiding amid nonexistent marriage problems. In reality, the actress's relationship is going strong and she was front and center at Sunday's Oscars, where she presented Best Picture and closed out the show.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
