One of this week's tabloids claims Julia Roberts and her husband Danny Moder box each other to fix problems in their marriage. The story is completely made-up. Gossip Cop can debunk it.
A headline in the latest issue of the National Enquirer reads, "Stressed Julia & Danny Slug It Out - In The Ring." The accompanying article says the couple's 16-year marriage is frequently strained, so they've decided to get out their anger and frustration by beating each other up.
An alleged insider tells the magazine, "Their marriage is far from perfect. Sometimes it seems like a powder keg. So they like to get the tension out with strenuous exercise and by getting physical with each other." The questionable source adds, "Julia loves it! She gets to punch Danny's lights out with a valid excuse. They're both in great shape and, amazingly, it's improved their relationship. They leave all their troubles in the ring."
Gossip Cop can confirm that the outlet's story is fabricated. It's based on the false premise that the spouses have marriage problems they need to fix, but that's simply not the case. In fact, Roberts' was interviewed by Oprah for the November 2018 issue of Harper's Bazaar, in which she addresses the false tabloids rumors about her relationship. "It can still hurt my feelings, because I'm so proud of my marriage," she says. "We just celebrated being married for 16 years this Fourth of July, and there's so much happiness wrapped up in what we've found together."
Meanwhile, Us Weekly published an article earlier this year devoted Roberts and Moder's "really solid, loving marriage." Additionally, Roberts called her husband "an awesome human being" an interview at the Toronto International Film Festival last month. She went on to say that the two "have so much fun" together. That "fun" doesn't involve beating each other up in a boxing ring so they can save their marriage.
Unfortunately, we're not surprised by the publication's phony article. Last year, Gossip Cop busted the tabloid for falsely claiming that Roberts and Moder were getting a divorce over her so-called "intimate hookup" with Richard Gere. Of course, the happy spouses are still together and Roberts never cheated on her husband with her Pretty Woman co-star.
When the magazine isn't busy targeting the actress's marriage, it also makes up stories about her relationships with other celebrities. Last week, for instance, Gossip Cop debunked the outlet's phony report about Roberts feuding with Jennifer Aniston over who's upcoming TV show will be a bigger hit. There was no truth to the story and this latest one is equally baseless.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
