Julia Roberts isn't suffering a health crisis, nor is her 17-year marriage to Danny Moder in trouble, despite a false tabloid report. Gossip Cop can debunk the phony story. There's no truth to it.
According to In Touch, the actress has experienced a dramatic weight loss because her marriage has hit a rough patch. A so-called "onlooker" who supposedly spotted Roberts in Malibu earlier this month tells the magazine, "I was shocked at how skinny she looked. Her legs looked like twigs, like she needed to eat a good burger. She seemed so tired and frail." This unidentified "onlooker" doesn't specify exactly where in Malibu it was that they saw Roberts.
From there, another alleged "insider" says the stress of the actress's marriage is taking a physical toll on her. "They aren't in a good place," the source says about Roberts and Moder. "They'll fight about the kids, work - everything - and when she's stressed out she doesn't eat. She picks at her food."
The magazine then attempts to have it both ways by leaving some room to later weasel out of its narrative. The "source" says Roberts and Moder likely won't divorce because "they have hit these rough patches before, and they always get through it because they love each other." The alleged tipster adds, "And when that happens, you will see Julia looking fuller and healthier. But right now, friends and family are worried about her." These qualifiers were thrown in so the tabloid doesn't have to face total embarrassment when the spouses don't split.
Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to Roberts, who assures us both her marriage and her health are in perfectly good shape. The tabloid invented its story based on the word of an "onlooker" who believed the actress looked thin. Another suspicious tipster then threw in a whole lot of nonsense about Roberts and Moder fighting, but wasn't able to provide anything specific. So, they're battling over "kids" and "work" and that's all this "insider" knows? That's hardly a scoop, and it seems likely the outlet doesn't have any real "insider" at all.
Meanwhile, In Touch spends a lot of time creating imaginary marital issues for the couple. Back in May, Gossip Cop busted the tabloid for falsely claiming Roberts and Moder took a trip to Hawaii to save their marriage. In reality, the spouses simply went on vacation. Last year, the outlet made up an even more absurd story about Roberts getting pregnant to save her marriage. The actress hasn't had another child and her marriage remains intact.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
