Julia Roberts and Emmy Rossum's husband Sam Esmail, who's producing and directing her upcoming TV show "Homecoming," have not been flirting on set. The bogus rumor comes from one of this week's tabloids. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk this claim.
According to OK!, the actress and producer have been getting very close while filming the Amazon series, much to the chagrin of their respective spouses, Danny Moder and Rossum. An alleged insider tells the magazine that Roberts and Esmail "spend a ton of time together on set and off." The questionable source adds, "Julia has a presence that every director looks for. Sam's totally captivated."
The seemingly phony tipster further claims that Rossum feels threatened by Roberts because she "takes up a lot of Sam's time." Meanwhile, Moder supposedly feels "sidelined" when his wife is around the producer, says the suspicious source. Gossip Cop, however, has learned this is all completely fabricated.
A source close to the situation, who wasn't authorized to comment on the record, assures us Roberts and Esmail's relationship is purely professional. We're further told that neither of their spouses are upset about them working together. In fact, Rossum was on the set of "Homecoming" to support her husband on the first day of shooting last month. The actress even posted an Instagram photo of the two taking a break from filming to enjoy some ice cream together. Regardless, this tale of jealousy and flirtation is bogus.
It should be noted, OK! spends a lot of time attempting to create nonexistent problems between Roberts and Moder, so we're not surprised by this latest attempt to do so. In fact, this isn't the first time the unreliable tabloid has dragged another man into their relationship. Gossip Cop recently busted the outlet for falsely claiming Roberts' friendship with Richard Gere was causing problems in her marriage.
Gossip Cop also debunked the publication's phony story about Roberts forcing Moder to follow a set of rules while he's away working. And earlier this year, the magazine wrongly reported the actress's husband had moved out of their house following non-stop fights. This latest article seems to have been concocted simply because Roberts is collaborating with the husband of another famous actress, but there's zero truth to it.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
